I wasn't expecting us to go there and win but that is possibly the worst performance I have seen from us since Colchester! At least most of the time we are inept in attack we defend well but no, losing 4 - 0 to what is, by their standards, a very average Manchester United side actually flattered us quite a bit. And to top it off not one, but two of our widemen got injured and Snoddy's injury looks very bad indeed! Probably going to be Murphy against Man City I guess with Pilks? Hughton, sort it out ASAP. I know that wasn't entirely first XI but we were so pants today it was embarrassing and we can't afford to do that again that's for sure. I feel for the fans who forked out so much to watch that because our players did look very afraid of Manchester United very much. They just ran at us and we kept backing off. Not going to say anything tonight I don't think, will sleep on it.
I recognized Winwoods voice from Traffic. I watched a film my dad always raved about, Here we go round the Mulberry Bush, a few Traffic tracks. Judy Geeson
Hate it when someone says 'my dad loved that' - reminds me I'm an old fogey Judy Geeson was a cracker!
Yes, I recall a rather nice swimming scene at the river. Also the wife of Leslie Phillips was in it (who killed herself with some garden poison or something), she was nice as well. Adrienne Posta?? was pretty tasty.
Angela Scoular, yes she was (as LP would have said) 'Ding Dong'. Adrienne Posta too. Something about those sixties girls!
It was the manner of the performance that got me, no guts determination, nothing. Wasn't much point us even turning up really.
But we knew that in advance didn't we? Whatever the outcome there was no reason for the game.Had we won then everyone would have said United threw it.We might just as well had Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman in the team - The Pointless Cup.Let's get back to the real competition and get some points on the board. At least for a couple of months until Plymouth Argyle knock us out of the FA Cup. P.S. Only just saw the injuries to Redmond and Snodgrass. Why the hell didn't we put out all reserves? Madness.
well you won't find me defending that performance - it was ****e. as soon as the obligatory dodgy penalty was awarded we rolled over and had our belly tickled by a strong-looking, but distinctly average united side. the only ray of sunshine was a good opening period to the 2nd half but yet again we concede whilst on top. the snodgrass injury completely knocked the stuffing out of us and the game, and that was that. once again some of our fans acted like morons by cheering when snodgrass got injured. absolutely despicable behaviour. just because you don't want him in the team you get excited that he is injured? wonderful very, very bad (and very, very long) day at the office. best forgotten and never to be repeated and i agree, that was our worst performance since the colchester game. for what it's worth i think the whole team looks terribly shakey whenever mark bunn is in sticks. ruddy has an aura around him and defenders believe in him. bunn didn't do anything wrong last night but he's played three games this season and conceded 9 goals, 5 (FIVE) from outside the box. to be honest, he was probably our best player so it is unfair to pick on him because every outfield player had a 'mare and if that kind of showing is repeated on saturday we won't be stuffed by four - you'll be able to add a one in front of it.
This! When Utd had their first free-kick within shooting distance, I felt very nervous and began to wonder if that is how the players may be feeling too, when it comes to at least long range shots. You are right though, he didn't really do a great deal wrong.
