So pleased we didn't go daft and chuck big money on some short term no ho-per. £48m for Torres is stupid money IMO and £35m for Carroll is pure madness.

We can keep our powder dry until the Summer when the business to done is much more sensible.

However, looking around the deals completed, I couldn't help wonder if we maybe couldn't have gone for Obafemi Martins on the same deal he has gone to Birmingham for? He qualifies as an overseas loan player and its only until the end of the season. With out current African feel, he would have felt instantly at home and would have offered some quality EPL experienced cover up front.

Its just a little thought and not a regret.

    Any thoughts guys and gals?

I think Martins would have wanted guarantees that he would start each week. Once Wellbeck and Campbell return I don't think Bruce could have given him those guarantees.

He wont get those guarantees at Birminham kidda? McCLeish doesnt do threats and they have 3 good strikers at the club already.

I wouldn't see Martins fitting in with our style. He is less of a team player than Bent. Head down and run at goal all the time.
