Be really sad to see him go, but nobody could begrudge him this move to the MLS league if it happens. An absolute Swansea legend. I say good luck to him! http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...n-edging-MLS/story-26843038-detail/story.html
I'll be sad to see him go as I still think he's more than good enough to carry on with us next season. The best Swans player to wear the shirt that I have seen.
Would be gutted. What if Cork picks up a long term injury....we don't really have another specialist in that position....? Ki is better a little further forward.
Leon has said he wont sit out another season on the bench and I bleive he has told Monk as much. What Leon is actually saying is that if Leon is not number one DM then Leon is off. So much for Leons loyalty and Taylor is the one who gets all the crap for being disloyal eventhough he has never, ever displayed any traits at all. Taylors loyalty and commitment to the club is incorrectly challenged imo. He has stayed with us even when so called 'bigger club' have shown interest and come a calling. Hope he'll be left alone now. Leon is just being realistic. He may think he's good enough for the first team, he also may think good enough to start for many clubs, but the thing he know for certain is that here there are very good players ahead of him, limiting his opertunities. Cork for sure, Ki imo can be as effective as Leon in DM role, Shelvey too can play DM and be effective, although we'd see him trip over his bottom lip if asked to play there regularly. Plus Monk likes Fulton by all accounts so although not at Leons level, is in the mix too. So, all in all, Leon needs to move to guarantee regular football. It will be a shame as Leon has always been special to us and he will be the last of our playing legends to leave us. Where ever he goes, probably MLS, I hope so as he's far too good fo the Championship, I'll be watching him and shouting for his new team.
If he does go to ther MLS and we get that 19 year old Polish/American lad in part exchange would be a good deal for eveyone. If Cork did get injured it would give an opportunity to one of the youngsters perhaps and that would be no bad thing.
Its a great move for leon. He is not stupid he knows fully well he is no longer No1 by going on last season. I dont blame him if he goes to America and he should be honored as not that many players get a chance or is wanted in America........The pay will be good as well.....
Leon's game does not suit many teams, his style was adrift at Sheffield, he needs to think carefully about this as it could well back fire.
I guess in the MLS he would stand a better chance of a team building their play around his style...he would have to be very picky though. As you say, if the club doesn't play to his strengths he'll have a nightmare.
Why would he care at this stage of his career...It's a fantastic opportunity for him and his family to spend a few years living in the states and earning big bucks.....Many players coming to the end of top flight football would love the chance to be able to do the same.....he is very lucky and a testament to his career to be asked.....
who said he has been asked? Maybe his agent is the one doing the asking. Either way IF true good luck to him and I wish him well
What's so different about these reports then Dai and the stories about Michu? Can't have it both ways
Yes I have and the only team he has been linked with has denied any contact and Wales Online article which it refers to appears to be based on rumour. "In addition, a move for Britton would not seem to make much sense for the Red Bulls currently, as the club’s midfield trio of Felipe Martins, captain Dax McCarty and US international Sacha Kljestan is one of the strongest units in the league." http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/0...ach-addresses-swansea-links-with-matt-miazg/? In the original article again which doesn't contain any quotes from agents/players or clubs even says "It is understood there has been no cast-iron interest from MLS sides in the 32-year-old, who has been told he will have no guarantees about first-team football at the Liberty Stadium this season." http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leon-britton-bide-time-over-9608389? So if you can show me any articles with quotes from clubs that say we want Britton please by all means put up the links
Leon Britton will bide his time over potential options on his future amid suggestions he could be ready to follow Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard to Major League Soccer. So He knows about it...
on a serious note, Michu could do worse than moving out here for a season to resurrect his career. latest rumour is Carlton Cole is coming (woohoo ). Man City own Melbourne City and are playing each other on the Gold Coast 18 Jul, might be worth a trip down the coast for a look see.
To be honest I don't see Leon going anywhere, he is part of the furniture here and I think he should go to Huw and complain about Monks training or the lack of it!!............
