    Genuine ask.

Would it be possible for all of the players and management staff be able to do a buy out? Or even buy shares?

That's a fair point, I think players would have a lot more respect for an ex pro being the man in the middle , plus generally would see the game in a better perspective. Another argument I guess

no reason why not but if any were to leave they would have to sell their shares before joining another club.

Could they sack themselves and claim unfair dismissal?

I know the Managers can as I think Nail Quinn did with Sunderland, but not sure about players

i think footballers would never put something back into the game they have spent a career exploiting without an easy return. Having ruined the modern game, footballers, and specifically the PFA, would never take on ownership or refereeing for that matter. There are too many cushy numbers as pundits these days where they can be paid a bundle for critisising owners and refs, but never their fellow leeches.

Maybe lower league players could become refs but players who have earnt a stack have no reason to become a referee once they stop playing

Refereeing is really a lot simpler than we make it. The league that I play in make a big thing of ensuring their refs are doing their jobs properly. They can't get every decision right obviously but the league ensure the refs are always engaged in the game, respectful and try to keep the game flowing. I've been impressed with them every game we've played and I've made a point of telling them so (anyone who reads my posts regularly will know I am a big critic of Championship refs).

Likewise, no one can ensure that refs at this level get every decision right but they can maximise the level of common sense employed like the ones in my league do (and I'm sure others do)

Common sense would be to get us some bloody linesmen! We literally play matches with only a ref and no assistants, so the ref often has to make an offside decision from 25 yards away, it's ridiculous.

I know it's a case of getting the manpower, but I'm pretty sure there's plenty out there that would happily do it.
