Could Demba Ba work as a target man?

    We've all heard the news that Pardew is keen to play Ben Arfa as the new number 10 behind the striker, which means he's most likely going to play 4-4-1-1 next season.

    Instead of buying ****ing Carlton Cole, do you think Demba Ba would work good upfront by himself with Ben Arfa supporting him?

    Ba has really impressed me lately. I didn't think much of him when i first saw him, but he looks mint. Good pace, agility and finishing. He's also good strength in him, and i'm just wondering do you think he'd be a good lone striker upfront?

    He's the sort of player you'd have as a lone forward, yes. He and Ben Arfa would compliment each other nicely IMO but I think we need to sign 2 strikers, so we can adapt and play other formations and styles. Teams catch on very quickly if you dont mix it up a bit.

    I'd pay 7/8 mil for him, but i'd stick a 5 million + Lovenkrands deal in for him. If we sell Enrique i'd be prepared to pay 10 mil for him.

    I wouldn't mind that idea, but is he a similar sort of player to Sow? I think Sow might well be a better target man, but Ba looks to have a lot of pace and power.

    I think Ba would be a more realistic target. If clubs are coming in for Hazard, Gervinho and Sow it will make it less likely. Ba loooks excellent and would ask for less wages and would probably cost us alot less overall.

    Ba would be the better deal.

    Maybe so, I don't agree or disagree with you, I would like to see a bit more of Ba before I decide if he is good enough to sign as our main striker <ok>

    He is the type of player, big, strong and a bit of pace on him... maybe scout around for something better though.

    Good player for hoffenheim though and doing a decent job with west ham.

    Still prefer Vossen though...
