    From todays HDM :-

"Hull City chairman Assem Allam appears unwilling to reopen talks with Hull City Council over ownership and development options surrounding the stadium.

Council leader Steve Brady has suggested a referendum on the issue should an offer from the Allams unexpectedly arrive on his desk.
Neither scenario fills me with much hope that progress is on the immediate horizon.

Surely, whatever has happened in the past between the two parties should be consigned to the history books.

The time must be right for common sense and a degree of compromise on both sides to come to the fore.

The stadium was specifically designed to allow an extra 5,000 seats to be installed without too much disruption.

The building industry typically quotes about £1,000 per seat when calculating the cost of a new sports stadium.

So, for £5m – the same amount pledged by the city council to cover infrastructure costs associated with the proposed Siemens factory on Alexandra Dock – the stadium's capacity could be increased to meet the demand for Premier League tickets, while providing an increased revenue stream for the stadium management company, which is meant to share some of its profits with the council.

What is needed now is a trusted mediator to bring the two sides together.

Perhaps ex-council leader Pat Doyle is the man for the occasion? I'm told Lord Haskins has also offered his services.

The nettle needs to be grasped now, otherwise the current stalemate will continue to drag on for the foreseeable future."

What do you reckon? Is our venerable Doctor being stubborn or is there some light on the horizon? Your thoughts.

Think if the olive branch is being offer the Allams should grasp it. A mediator should be called for and if talks do take place Geraty should not be allowed any where near them

Should someone comment on an old article it often drags it to the fore in the HDM.

As for the extension of the East Stand by 5000, trust me it will cost significantly more than £5m.

Agree the Allams should accept the olive branch if it comes.

However, i don't see the point increasing the ground capacity- neither us or fc fll it as it is.

We dont need a larger stadium for the NPC but we certainly do for the PL if only because many games will attract well over 22000 of local support coupled with the away allocation of 2500 and the plods ludicrous segregation.

30-32k as Lestas and St Marys would be fine and an empty upper tier in either the East or the current West would not detract from the matchday effect in the NPC.

The biggest problem is not Brady so much but other senior HCC who are more egg chasers than football fans. They dont want a bigger KC.

You may well be right but its down to Allam Snr to want to extend the KC at the 'Clubs' expense - the eggchasing council brigade couldn't then really publically turn down such a proposal.
