Just looked around and found that a few Leeds fans believe Bates changed his terms of the sale around mid July, instead of the asking price he demanded 50% of the money from revenue should Leeds reach the Premiership within five years. It may be rubbish, but something inside me tells me there may be an element of truth in this opinion.
Another rumour is that Bates would have to cough up a tax bill of £2 million if he his not a director for a further 2 years.
That's what I thought ristac. But it is maybe one reason why Bates initially just wanted investment and not a full takeover. The bloke can't stand the sight of seeing money go.
Maybe, but maybe he still wants that extra 2 mill or to stay on the board for another two years. That way he could take a cut when he sells up completely and if we are in the prem by then (by using someone else's money) his return will be far greater.
Sadly, I think the information that LUST put out also helped Bates. He must have looked at the season ticket sales and interest from fans again and thought everything was back to normal, why should he sell now?
