Unite the fans at the derby? Just a strange thought. I certainly hope there will be no minutes silence.
I for one hope to God this does not happen at all. She is yesterday's personality and it never does any good speaking ill of the dead.Apart from which it will just provide more ammunition for an already biased press against us. But I won't hold my breath.
Personally I don't think we should even bother about Maggie T , if they want a minutes silence, just talk all the way through it, if they want a minutes clapping, stay silent, after what she did to our region we shouldn't even acknowledge the fact that she's dead.
I firmly believe that fans of both teams should recognise what Maggie did for our region throughout her 11 years in power - possibly in the 11th minute of the game. I'm sure that someone can come up with a suitable chant or song.
I'm not going to the game, but I would certainly join in any derogatory chants against who I regard as the most obnoxious political figure in British history..
Freedom of speech. I support the right of everyone at the game to vent their feelings on the most destructive politician in the north of Englands history
What gets my goat is the way the f***ers expect everyone to eulogise the old bat.The Newcastle MP had it right when he just didn't attend and Alistair Campbell reckons it's just a political stunt by Dave.Well let's see how that pans out in London next week shall we? That Glenda Jackson's no oil painting though is she? If she is it's one by Picasso.
So basically the OP is wondering whether your collective hatred of a dead 87 year old widow riddled with dementia for a decade who has had no political influence for 20 years transcends your hatred of your local rivals. Bit sad really - if you don't like someone fair enough but a little respect for the dead and the family of the dead surely is not too much to ask. I wonder how Bob Clarke, Glenda Jackson, George Galloway and the others jumping on the bandwagon of hate would feel if it were their families having to listen to hate-filled bile directed at them if they had died. Obviously nothing as they'd be dead but you get my point.
Thatcher should have thought about her family when she was ****ing our region over. She needs to take the rough with the smooth.
I remember chants of 'get your pits out for the lads' at Notts forrest's ground in the league cup in 1984 !
I'd be less disinterested in burying the old bird if we got a day off work. As we don't, all this ceremonial stuff is a waste of money.
