Our last two games, Carlisle and Coventry, midfield, first he played - Wade Elliott, Bobby Reid and Marlon Pack, then he played, Marlon Pack, Marvin Elliott and Simon Gillett.. Then he said... * Where am I with my midfield? I'm probably in the same position I was when I first came through the door here. * I can't quite pin down on a regular basis which players make up my best midfield. * For one reason or another, I cannot seem to get to that point. That means I'm not happy with the permutations I'm seeing. That is why I change it. * It makes it difficult to pick a team every week and, no matter which players I pick and what shape I go with, we cannot quite seem to bring it all together. * I don't know whether all of them can play game after game and I don't know whether that is down to strength or fitness. * I won't know until we get to that point where I learn more and we might not get to that point this season. There you have it, a self admission, not made up but stated by SC himself.... He don't know what he's doing.... http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Midfie...anager-Steve/story-20570124-detail/story.html
I suppose at least he is honest. Im not sure SOD or D Mac knew either. If you ask me, I don't. The only one I would invest any time in is Reid. Pack, maybe. Others are either not good enough or past their best days,
Must admire his honesty but it concerns me that he said it in the first place. My suggestion to him is listen to the supporters who pay to watch your lack of knowledge each week and perhaps you might just get some success. A shocking state of affairs all around and when you consider he was the only candidate interviewed and apparently got the job based on his friendship with a board member then we have every right to be concerned. We are all getting tired of getting fobbed off by Steve Lansdown with his commitment to the club's future, and look where we are after years of dire ineptitude on his part which could even bring our tenure in the Football League in the balance. Shame on our board for allowing this to happen and also for expecting managers who are clearly not up to the task to clear up your mess.
The last thing I'd want a manager to do is listen to the fans. A manager will know the players better than anyone in the stands. We see them for at most 90 minutes every game. He spends that much time with them every single day in training, and for additional time during matches. However, if I were him I would embrace the one pillar that even remotely makes sense, and that is the youth prospects the club currently hold. We've spent a ton of money on our academy, but we're still barely playing our prospects, no much more than we did before. We've got at least six players in our academy squad that I reckon could make the step up to first-team football, and I'd happily chuck out the bit-part players and fill my bench with hungry youngsters. A lot of people say that it's down to confidence, including some of the current City players. For me, I reckon we can inject some much-needed confidence into the side by introducing academy players. Nothing lifts a youngsters confidence more than being put into the first-team. If we don't put them in now, I reckon we'll lose a number of them when relegation comes knocking. We spent years saying these players were only good enough for League 1 and League 2, and now that we're actually here they're still not playing.
It's not rocket science. No ****er knows the midfield because it's based around fitting JET into the team. I know we went without him at Brentford but we need fighters in the team now.
I think it's obvious he does not know his best midfield and I suspect if someone started a thread on who would be the players in a 5 man midfield (or a 4) we would get quite a few different answers
'we would get quite a few different answers' - But only one correct because in our set up he has to play Pack and Marv in whatever system he uses. In a diamond behind a front 2. Jet Marv,Reid. Pack. OR If he goes with a flat 4 Bryan,Pack,Marv,Burns. OR If he goes 3-5-2 Cunningham,Pack,Reid,Marv, Moloney. Simple. Trouble with SC is 'he watches to much television'. Thinks that we must rotate. The idiot doesn't realise you only do that if you replace like with like. But he ends up playing the useless Gillett with a Reid or Bryan. He doesn't have a fu**ing clue.
In a diamond behind a front 2. Jet Marv,Reid. Pack. No width or are you expecting Marv to run the wing and create has Xavi like passes? OR If he goes with a flat 4 Bryan,Pack,Marv,Burns. Could work if you played the players to their strength ie Burns on the right and Bryan on the left OR If he goes 3-5-2 Cunningham,Pack,Reid,Marv, Moloney. So basically the same as above, get to know your left from right you might have something, nope you've just replicated this season so far by dropping Wagstaff for Moloney. So you don't really know what you are talking about do you?
Much as I'd like to, I cant disagree with any of those line-ups RP I dont agree that he doesnt have a clue, but sometimes its hard to see the wood for the trees is it not. Otherwise you could be Prime Minister and we'd all be in the ****
sorry angelic no we are not we are DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMED SC ...........cor look a west country shotgun, wonder whats down this tube BOOOOOOM oh f*** I ve blown my head off
'Much as I'd like to, I cant disagree with any of those line-ups RP' Cheers Rickster - everyone, even RODney knows I'm right. Well I think he does, not sure what to make of the silly bu**er's comment. 'Otherwise you could be Prime Minister and we'd all be in the ****' - And we're not now ? You wait till Bob Crow's mate gets in, then we'll really know how deep the sh*t gets.
