Steve Cotterill admits there is a lot of hard work ahead after Bristol City's 2-1 home defeat to Rotherham left them bottom of League One. The new manager's first home game in charge produced an all-too-familiar outcome as first-half goals from Nouha Dicko and Ben Pringle gave Rotherham a deserved interval lead. Substitute Bobby Reid replied for the hosts with an 81st-minute goal, but it was too little too late, despite an improved second-half performance. Cotterill said: "It is never nice to be bottom of the table and I will have to wait to see if it has a psychological effect. "There is a lot of hard work ahead. We wasted 45 minutes by playing at too slow a tempo and could have no complaints about losing on our first-half display. "We passed the ball, but passed it too slowly. The second half was a lot better, but it will only mean anything if we start our next game in the same manner. "I already know what needs doing, but it's quite a lot and will take time. The players need to relax on the ball more and move it quicker if we are to be effective." Dicko's second-minute goal was his fourth in his last four starts. The striker pounced to score from close range when City goalkeeper Elliott Parish failed to hold a long-range shot from Kieran Agard. Pringle swept home the second in the 27th minute after a strong run from Lee Frecklington and Rotherham could have been further ahead by the break, having played some slick passing football. Reid's reply came when his curling cross from the left drifted in at the far post without anyone getting a touch. Rotherham keeper Adam Collin then had to save well from Sam Baldock as the home side pressed for a late equaliser. So all that time, training and philosophy from SOD was wrong, no wonder we are crap.... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11719/9074318/cotterill-hard-work-ahead
I think the comment about Parrish "failing to hold" the initial shot that led to the first goal is unfair. I sit in Atyeo and was directly behind the action. It was a pretty hard shot, but it was also swerving in different directions during it's flight. IMO Parrish did extremely well to get a hand on it. Maybe ideally, he should have deflected it over the bar, but the fact remains that City defenders ball watched and Rotherham striker pounced before our statues moved.
I am afraid Aiden Flint isn't all he is cracked up to be. Swindon don't miss him surely?....fans used to have a pop at "Boom Boom" but I would swap Flint for McCoomb any day. Another one to dissapoint me is Pack.....showed good signs to start with but now average at best imo. I just hope its all a confidence thing and if we start winning a few games the likes of the two mentioned will shine a bit brighter.
Flint came with a good reputation and Swindon fans were livid he came to us. I've seen little to understand why they were so upset to lose him. He was the physical presence we've lacked for a few seasons, but doesn't appear to have a clue how to play or read the game. Aside from the well documented series of own goals, he has cost us points on several occasions.
'I already know what needs doing' Cotterill - you patently don't. Only a clone of SOD would set up like we did last Saturday and pick Gillett. I STILL can't believe you asked JET to play out of position. I won't be buying a ticket for the cup match. I hope each and every season ticket holder does the same. Getting behind Cotterill and fu****g Pembo's BCFC team will be an absolute waste of time.
