The cameras were struggling to find Cortese yesterday. They focussed on the wrong guy in a suit at first but then cut to a section of fans where there was a very "Cortese-like" chap wearing a training jacket. Was Don Cortese getting his matchday fix again? My Sky+ wouldn't rewind so if anyone recorded it.......
Didn't see that, though did see the tasty guy Sky thought was Cortese. Looked Italian..relative perhaps. Does Cortese ever take his suit off...wearing a training jacket? Doesn't sound like him...please don't let him do a Rupert Lowe and start appearing on training pitch. I prefer our own mysterious mafiosa. Sky eventually found him skulking in a doorway..think his matchday nerves had got the better of him.
They showed him in the second half on Sky and he was in the Directors area leaning against a door frame looking out onto the pitch.... Couldn't help but think: 1) Why isn't he sat down? 2) Why isn't he smiling when we're 3-0 up?
Cortese is on record as saying he hates match days...too nervous to enjoy them and apparently can't eat. Sounds like a fan to me. He said in one interview when someone mentioned that Markus was always smiling...Of course he's smiling, he's only got to turn up and watch.
Think it was in the second half just after the rain when the sun came out. The sun is very low over the kingsland roof and shining right in the eyes of people in the Itchen at that level, so probably just went and stood in the shade to see better. Was surprised to see all the corporate seats completely empty. Looks like Saints have got the pricing or advertising of them badly wrong, which I expect Cortese would not be happy about.
Went round to a mates after the match who had recorded it and watched it all through again, they did get it wrong the first time but then as stated above it was definitely him standing in the doorway and as also said Cortese does really seem like a fan with all the nervousness that he feels on match days. Really do think he is doing an excellent job at running the club, wouldnt have anyone above him.
