http://www1.skysports.com/football/...a-cortese-hands-in-resignation-at-southampton Bloody hell I hadn't realised that they had spent over £72 under Pochettino? Thats a helluva lot of dough for a club that has had some financial difficulties of their own in recent years? Surely if the went into administration in 2010, presumably leaving loads of people in debt, they cant be splashing this kind of cash about 3 years ago?
When Markus Liebherr bought the club from administration the debts were paid fully without the need for a CVA (except to Aviva who renegotiated the loan). Anyway hopefully all of this is sorted by Saturday and we can get on with the footy, the same sort of threats happened in the Summer. Bit scary for the fans though.
Also the £72 million figure quoted is over the course of 4 years, not just since Pochettino has taken over.
Southampton supporters must carry a certain fear after the relegations/liquidations/negotiations over the last few years. This kind of thing can't help especially as the manager could follow Cortese out of the door.
We have a thing of playing clubs in disarray at the moment! lets hope its not a repeat of Cardiff! Either way this is a massive surprise for a club who arent doing too badly at all Although if Cortese/Pochettino walk it could severely help us
Indeed, apparently he has said that mind, if Cortese goes then he goes with him However i do agree, when it comes to team talks and that, must be a right faf on Imagine hill giving a massive jee up and then all the players looking at the translator!
They've worked it out somehow, he's been great for them. Lets see if he sticks to his guns and walks.
oh i agree mate. Harsh as ****. Spose everything was set up for Pochettino. What Gus has done turning our fortunes and the way we play football is nothing short of genius. He'll end up at Barca or Real.
I agree, but hopefully he sees us over for a good few years, regardless of what happens Would love him to be here for at least 5 years, get his own team sorted and that
Defo, he's still a learning manager though with a long career ahead of him. Think he'll be with us a while yet. Need to tie him a contract though
Hopefully we are now seeing the form that we can beat Southampton at home whether they are in disaray or not.
Doesn't look good for them. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...n-owner-wants-sale-nicola-cortese-could-leave Sky sources: Southampton owner wants sale, Nicola Cortese could leave Last Updated: 15/01/14 3:06pm  Nicola Cortese: Future at Southampton uncertain Southampton owner Katharina Liebherr wants to sell the club and executive chairman Nicola Cortese looks set to leave, Sky Sports News understands. The developments at St Mary's put the future of Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino in doubt, with the Argentinian having previously said he would leave Saints if Cortese left. Sky sources indicate that Cortese handed in his resignation some time ago following a power struggle with Liebherr. Cortese, a former banker, fronted a deal on behalf of Markus Leibherr to buy Southampton in 2009 when the club was in administration and in League One. Since then, the value of the club has dramatically increased, following back-to-back promotions to the Premier League. Katharina is the daughter of Markus, who died a in 2010. She now wants to sell the club, whilst Cortese wants to wait. This process is believed to have been ongoing since last summer - it was understood that a compromise agreement was reached only for relations to break down again over Christmas. Pochettino's future is now unclear. Back in May, Pochettino stressed that his involvement at Southampton was dependent on his chairman remaining at the club. "If (he) Cortese doesn't work here... I would not understand a Southampton with Nicola being here," he said. "The person who has put his faith in me at Southampton is Nicola Cortese." There has so far been no comment from Southampton but the news has seen Pochettino cut to 2/1 from 50/1 in Sky Bet's 'next Premier League manager to leave' market.
How the hell have they managed to make the value sore if don't even realise that mid season isn't the best time to be doing all this ****
Cant imagine anything happening before to unsettle the game. We should ignore anyway and stick to our gameplan.
Can't see their players putting out for him. But if the manager goes in the meantime, that would be different. Should still be going for the throat whatever...
