Agree to an extent, but wanting multiple tickets rather than a couple, or wanting a corporate box does take the mick. Anyway, think sometimes Sky and their presenters can be very unprofessional, and not sure why Jeff felt the need to bring that up, Le Tissier should have said something, rather than let Jeff bitch on like that. Jeff says "Don't tell me times have moved on" but I don't see anywhere where Nicola says times have moved on and MLT and Lawrie Mac are unimportant now? Tool.
They forget SFC is a private company owned by one person (and now his heir). Saints and fans may owe MLT something but the Leihberrs don't.
Why should Le Tissier have free tickets for life? As Cortese rightly says, no one is bigger than the club.
As much as I love the legends of the past, I think a blanket rule of no freebies is fair and correct. Otherwise where do you draw the line? Every ex-player or youth player could be entitled to a freebie. Plus its not like Le Tiss can't afford a ticket is it?
Its not like Le Tissier didn't get paid for 17 years, he has enough money for a season ticket and should pay like the rest of us.
I actually agree with Stelling. They should be given free entry for life considering how well they served the club, though I do think it's going a bit far to want tickets for family and friends as well. There's a good and bad side to Cortese's business style, and the bad side is that he treats it too much like a business.
Can you imagine Cortese in his chair flicking a piece of lint off his immaculate suit. 'Fetch me a horse.'
We all think Le god is a legend but this is ridiculous now, jeff stelling was very unprofessional and should keep his views to himself, wouldn't be disappointed if he got a free ticket but i also don't think he should get all uppity because he couldn't get free tickets, jeff was saying about how he has given great service which he has but he has also earnt well out of the club and it was his job.Let's put it this way if loyalty rewards free tickets then surely that means fans deserve free tickets? where does it stop? It's pretty pathetic really and they should just get together and sort it out!
I have put my money into the club for many years so I feel I have done enough to deserve a free ticket.
Am not sure the interview with The Sun was perhaps one of NC's better ideas - whilst I have no problem with what was reported - but as usual with the press; things get taken out of context, or one aspect gets the focus whilst the other really good 99% gets ignored. To date, not talking has benefitted NC; he might want to go back to that strategy hereafter.
I think Tiss should rise above not getting free tickets. Isn't he grateful that the club was saved? Isn't he thrilled that we are doing so well?
Wow, what a shock, Cortese treats a business like it is a business! The alternative is to act like that shower of sh*t* that ran pompey into the ground. I had the pleasure of watching Matty throughout his career, and there is no doubt he was a great servant to the club, but he did get paid, and did get a testimonial, and is now earning good money as a pundit on the back of his saints career. There are many ex players who also did much for the club - Paine, big Ron etc who dont expect life long freebies. Noone should expect to receive freebies for the rest of their life! It si none of stelllings business what SFC does. if he feels that sorry for matt, then maybe he should buy him a season ticket. why doesn't Stelling Consonant, vowel consonant, Consonant. OFF
I have to give it to you, not many people could spout such nonsense with such eloquence. There's more to football than money.
Jo, if you cant hear another point of view without calling it nonsense, then dont come on a forum. If The owner, and the chairman both paid for their season tickets like the rest of the fans, then why should a rich ex player get in free, and who care want jeff stelling thinks anyway. there cannot be a better way of bonding the 2saints family" together than the realisation that everyone is treated the same - no free rides, no special treatment, no prima donnas. that works for me!
He smirked though. The fans love Matt but he hasn't a chance of winning a fans' popularity contest with Cortese at the moment.
