But since when is ''Piss off'' swearing.I don't think it is.I Know all the swear words but ''piss off'' isn't one of them.
Thats if thats what Kenny said to Wenger on Sunday.I've read reports that there is a large number of Man United fans who have complained to the FA that Kenny should have action taken against him for telling Wenger to ''piss off''.
    Its crazy.

To be fair, it's a matter of opinion. Some people think it is and some don't. But I do agree with you, it's crazy. He shouldn't get banned like Rooney did because Kenny didn't swear into the camera like Rooney did.

As far as I'm concerned all Kenny did was say as much was ''I give up,just go away from me,I'll talk to you when you're talking sense''.In short ''Ah Piss off''.
Have you ever had an arguement with someone and when they wouldn't listen to reason and then you walked away to let them cool down?,you just say ''ah piss off whatever''.Its not swearing.
As far as I'm concerned thats ''Piss off'' is just diffusing a situation and walking away, its not vulgarity, which what Rooney was guilty of.

Yeah, i'm agreeing with you. I'm just saying that i've got friends who find the phrase 'piss off' offensive. I don't but I know people who do. I wouldn't find the phrase 'piss off' offensive and I don't think Kenny should get banned and I believe that he won't get banned. And yeah, it's completey different to the Rooney scenerio.

Rooney wasn't punished for swearing into the camera, per se. That's not in the rules. It's a matter of degree, something which goes out of the window too often when it comes to footy fans. Plenty of people defended Keys and Gray as joking, as some people do about sexism, when common sense said they weren't really joking.

I couldn't lip-read what Kenny actually said and I still can't in youtube clips. I haven't seen it on normal TV so I dunno.

I think the broadcasters have to take some responsibility. They know what footballers are like. We see the mimed **** offs to refs every week. They're supposed to have a delay when doing live coverage to give them time to bleep out anything offensive. They could also use more general mic placement for crowd atmosphere. Mics don't have to be on cameras pitchside.

I didn't really hear anything at the time during the coverage,it wasn't until I saw the youtube video. However,I still reckon Kenny did it to prevent a full blown arguement and diffused it by saying ''Ah piss off'.As much to say ''Enough is enough,I can't be bothered''.Has Wenger come out and said that Kenny verbally abused him? No.I reckon the FA would take action if Wenger had complained that Kenny verbally abused him.Seeing as Kenny didn't verbally abuse Wenger,I don't know what the fuss is about.

The rule says players should be sent off for using "abusive, insulting or offensive language or gestures". You could argue that telling someone to piss off is insulting and offensive, but then that rule is hardly ever applied. It's like the Respect campaign - the FA talk the talk but rarely enforce all the rules they create to try and tackle these issues.

Like I've said before, the problem that most Utd fans have with the Rooney ban is that he was banned on the basis that the ref would have sent him off for swearing, when I don't think any ref in the world has ever sent a player off for swearing. Even Graham Poll admitted that when he was a ref he was told by the FA to be lenient on players who were swearing, so as not to ruin games by sending players off for trivial offences. The fans complaining to the FA are only doing it to highlight the inconsistent application of the rules - one of the United blogs set up a campaign encouraging United fans to complain to the FA every time a player is seen swearing just to make that point.

    I agree with that.
    However.
Trevor Brooking has come out and said(I got this report on my facebook page),that the two scenarios were entirely different.Secondly I don't think Rooney was banned for swearing,It was more to do with the fact he ran to the camera to do it.Players do say ''Ah for **** sake'' on a regular basis. If a ban was in place for actual swearing there would be massive amounts of suspensions. However the thing that got Rooney was he ran to a camera to tell the crowd to ''**** off''.Ferguson has appeared on television and swore,Look it up on Youtube,Ferguson says ''Thats a load of bollocks''.No action was taken against him.He did however apologise for it.

Swarbs, Rules Schmules! Rooney didnt get done for swearing lets be totally straight here, if that was so we'd have 20 red cards a week in the prem. He got done for looking right intoa camera and saying **** off, this has no relevance to what happened at the emirates at all. Rooney can swear all game but not at a camera, so piss off deserves punishment? when rooney can say it on the pitch away from the cameras?

To add it some weight this site allows piss off but not **** off

In saying all that the FA may feel it may have to act though any sort of ban would be laughable, he didn't as Drogba or Rooney did and swear right into a camera

I tihnk a fitting thing would be for both to apologise for not quite behaving like gentlemen, a hand shake should have been Wengers action and Kenny could have handled it better even though I would love to tell Wenger that myself I would resist the temptation out of self respect.

"The FA has charged Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney for the use of offensive, insulting and / or abusive language."

There is a rule in the official FIFA Laws of the Game that says the use of offensive, insulting and / or abusive language during a match is a direct red card offence and punished by an automatic two game ban. It is never enforced, because like you said that would result in a red card every match at least, but that is the rule the FA used to charge Rooney with. There is another rule that states:

"A participant shall at all times act in the best interests of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour."

The punishment for breaking that rule is at the discretion of the Disciplinary Commission. If the FA wanted to be consistent, they would have used that rule just like they did when Babel posted the picture of Webb and SAF accused Atkinson of not being fair. But they chose to use a rule that they never enforce in any other circumstance, thus leaving themselves open to accusations of inconsistency.

I agree that Rooney should have been punished for swearing into the camera, but the FA should have charged him with bringing the game into disrepute, and let the disciplinary commission decide his punishment. But they decided Rooney deserved to be treated differently from any other player or manager, including SAF, and in the process have made themselves look like a right bunch of fools in the minds of many.

And for what it's worth, I don't think Dalglish should get a ban. If the FA think he's brought the game into disrepute they should charge him with that and let the disciplinary commission decide what to do, just like they should have done with Rooney. But they won't, cos let's face it it's basically a nothing bit of handbags.

Just give's the Utd fans another reason to scream "the world's against us, no one loves us" Big difference between Rooney and Kenny...Rooney sought the camera, and then swore. Kenny wasn't even aware of a camera, just responding to Arsene Whinger.

Did Rooney really seek out the camera? Or did the camera man run to him?

Agree that he didn't go over to it, he did face directly into it as if to address it and spoke TO the camera, he intended to do just that, swearing goes on all of the time, but it is probably best to keep it out of our faces when watching a game, I've been booked for it many times inn years gone by, not sent off. The camera before the watershed, the fact that he is Englands most reported on player, keeping his head was never his strong point now was it. I reckon he has been feeling the pressure ever since the world cup and that he blew off steam and possibly responded to a lot of stick he was getting, but his choice was a bad one nonetheless and not accceptable. I care not if they swear on the pitch, if they swer at players or the ref they should be booked, but not if it is going to ruin te game, refs shouldn't listen to grumbling anyways and just ignore it and not be all schoolmastery on them, ie Bennet with Masc.

Auld wayne swears in every game he doesn't play well and maybe a few when he does play well. Especially when he aint getting the rub of tyhe green with deicsions and he has managed to avoid cards ect. To say the ban was wrong is just naieve, and tells everyone, it is cool to look into a TV camera and say "**** off", that's a step too far for my liking, if my son repeated it I'd knock his head.

The camera man ran to him obviously, but he audibly and intentionally shouted AT the camera. If Dalglish got punished then you'd have to ban every player that was seen to use foul language on a football pitch.

So a cameraman runs to annoy players.
Typical Man United conspiracy. The worlds against us blah blah blah.
The camera never moves,Rooney sought the camera in the same way some players have gone up to kiss it,ie Kiko Macheda,Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker.Rooney swore into the camera. Its so obvious Stevie Wonder could see it.Kenny did nothing wrong,Wenger wanted to pick an arguement and was the obvious aggressor, and Kenny just diffused the situation by saying ''ah piss off'',they actually had a drink together later on when it all cooled down.If anything Wengers actions were heat of the moment.Fair play to him for acknowledging that later.

This wasn't about rules, if the camera was not there, I doubt we've even have heard about it tbh. He was foolish enough to lose his head, many reasons he made the mistake but he made it.

Looking to get Kenny done as UNited fans I am sure would love, you will point to this punishment you united fans called "just made up" and "ridiculous" just a couple of weeks ago and he no way deserves a ban, now rthe shoe is on the other foot and listen to ye.

Anyway Kenny made a parting comment he wasn't abusive Wenger made no complaint either so?? UNited fans made a complaint? Who complained? Fking losers I'd say. It wasn't liverpool complaints that got rooney banned, it was the stupidity of doing what he did on live TV. FA had no choice but to ban him. For the record Kenny said beshoff, he was telling Wenger where he can get good cod n chips

Of course it is about rules. That's the whole point - the FA have selectively applied the rules in order to get Rooney a stronger punishment that he would likely have got if he was charged with bringing the game into disrepute. He deserved a ban for being such a dick, but he also deserved to be treated fairly. The FA are just trying to be populist, which is not good for a supposed impartial administrative body.

That is the point that United fans are making at the moment - if Rooney should have been sent off and banned then, according to the absolute letter of the rules, so should Reina and Dalglish and any number of other players who swear or make potentially offensive comments. Which, as we both agree, would be an absurd situation. United fans are simply pointing out the massive inconsistency here in the FA only applying the rules when it suits them or makes them look good.

P.S. Has the word 'dick' just made it through the swearing filter? <ok>

I agree wit that the rules are absurd,in the same way Ferguson wasn't charged for saying ''A load of bollocks'' in an interview a few years ago.Harry Redknapp has sworn.Again same thing. The proof is in youtube videos.
