Can't read anything on your post, but our education secretary says that we got the vaccine first because "We're a much better country than every single one of them:emoticon-0172-mooni" So there.

Is it by chance remotely possible that other countries contributed in a small way to the war effort and to the vaccine?

The Churlish reaction of the Left in the last 24 hours has been as nauseating as it is predictable. They literally hate this country being successful at anything.

Is this in code - what reaction to the vaccine, and are we pretending it was entirely Made in Britain? Seems to be being shipped in from Belgium.

The vaccines are a triumph for international cooperation. How can there possibly be a downside to that?

Credit to top US disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci for clarifying his earlier controversial remark that the UK had 'rushed' though approval for the first Coronavirus vaccine. His comment was widely interpreted as harshly negative, and provided needless ammunition for anti-vacc loonies.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-55177948

"Our process is one that takes more time than it takes in the UK. And that's just the reality,"
    Dr Fauci told the BBC.
"I did not mean to imply any sloppiness even though it came out that way."

Yeah I caught that last night and it came across as a bit uninformed, given he had no idea how the checks had gone through. Still, he back tracked so no worries.

Vaccinations in England due to start today, at least 3 weeks before the EU <applause>

You cannot make it mandatory in a free society, but hopefully everyone will have their jab.

It is a very serious matter in my view that the transport & storage of vaccines must be kept secret, for fear of concerted sabotage attempts by anti-vacc extremists.

In my opinion, sabotage of vaccines is a terrorist act.
Anybody who is convicted of sabotaging vaccine distribution should be charged with a terrorist offence and serve a very long prison sentence.
    30 years minimum.
Lost or delayed vaccinations WILL cost lives.
    Sabotage is attempted mass murder.
No slaps on the wrist for these maniacs. Send them down.

I agree that vaccination should not be made mandatory.

But people who refuse to take the vaccine should have no legal recourse if they are later denied access to leisure services or even state funded services like educational support.
Freedom to choose has to be matched by responsibility.

Vaccines are not dangerous. There is no valid argument to that reality, no legitimate debate. It's a fact.
If people choose not to take it, they have to own that decision.

I found myself rather concerned by the news that Pfizer have apparently been given blanket immunity by the Government against claims for injury or death arising from use of the vaccine.

I am looking for more information at the moment but as a general principle I would hesitate to take something which doesn't have the full confidence of its manufacturer.

Blanket immunity for Pfizer doesn't bother me.
Maybe 1 in 100,000 or 1 in a million people might have an allergic reaction to the vaccine.

But about 1 in a thousand people will die from Coronavirus without the vaccine, and 99% of those deaths will be prevented if folks take the vaccine.
If one of my relatives dies from COVID19, I cannot sue the Government.
And if the vaccine seriously hurt me I would not automatically seek to sue anybody - particularly if my reaction was a 'one in a million' fluke.

In the case of Coronavirus vaccine, I think Pfizer and other companies should be protected from the rabble of anti-vacc trouble-makers who will pursue endless spurious legal actions against them, given the opportunity.

The Courts are increasingly being used in bad faith by trouble makers like anti-vacc muppets, ESI scumbags and Donald Trump.
Time the whole business of litigation was looked at again.

    Valid point about vexatious litigation.

But I want to find out more about the reasons behind the immunity. MD in Private Eye may have something in the next issue.

This just struck me as something of concern as it is, to the best of my knowledge, unprecedented in a vaccine.

I hope my concerns are groundless.

As I'm a fair way away from being a priority case, it won't affect me but granting a blanket immunity is a strange thing to do. I was fairly confident about the stringency of the testing but that is not a good way to strike a confident note. Like Lardi I think it'll be a case of biting the bullet, but it isn't a great look.
