See the government have shown results of anti bodies sample testing they have done, it suggests 20% of London have had it and 5% of the rest of the country.

Yeh, not huge sample sizes but at the lower end of expectations and very disappointing for hopes of getting back to a ‘normality’ sooner rather than later. Track and trace and regular isolations may be the new normal.

Lower end of who's expectations, 20% of London is way above my expectations, as is 5% of the rest of us TBF.

I'm not good at maths, never have been, and figures confuse me, so I look at the Covid problems like this. Going by the figures that i have been able to understand, it seems that most suicides are committed by people under fifty, but more people over fifty die of Corvid-19. Ergo, it all equals out and in about twelve months we should be back to normal. Yea? (I think i worked that out pretty well. I'm not stupid, you know.)

Don’t fall out with the Aussies. Neville still wants to finish the pl out there
They've got deadly spiders, all the top Ten most poisonous snakes, Crocks, Alligators, sharks, do you really think Deeney, Rose, and co will go there.
Deeney would probable refuse to go as racist Alligators eat more Blacks than whites worldwide.

If I recall correctly, the Swedes were advised about social distancing, as it wasn't felt necessary to enforce it. This decision was taken simply because of the Swedish psyche. Compared to most countries, they're very well educated & are more able to receive instruction, consider it, & if they see the logic in it, they'll act in a sensible manner. Bottom line is that they're prolly doing social distancing better than us!

The Swedes really are quite different. I worked there for a few months. I couldn't believe it when 20 or so of us went to the pub. Everyone bought their own drink. Thought I was going to rob them when I explained a 'kitty' to them. Jeez! <doh>
At Sweden beer prices I would just buy my own as well <yikes>

We don't have alligators, except in zoos in Australia and no we haven't had as many deaths as in the Frontier wars, but then they did go on for the best part of 200 years. Spiders and snakes are quite dangerous, oh and the box jelly fish, blue ringed octopus, scorpions, some plants and of course drop bears.

I’ve posted estimates previously on here based on other countries’ findings/estimates .

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...-people-REALLY-caught-COVID-19-UK-London.html

you said this

TBH that story is rubbish, people getting tested because they are on the front line, showing symptoms etc are being found infected roughly 1/20 in testing. These are very high risk people, the general public numbers would be a tiny fraction of that % not higher as the daily fail are saying. Sales pitch rubbish to sell papers.

I said this

its true they’re a high risk group but they’re testing if you have it not if you have had it, we don’t know how many they test have actually already had it and are recovered.

The mail is a dreadful excuse for a newspaper but the relevance to the discussion was it gives a range of potential infection rates over here based on other countries testing. All of which give a death rate below 1% some of them way below 1%. Their extrapolation of those figures to show Very low or very high numbers in the uk just highlights how little we know subject to antigen/antibody tests.

there was another article here:

https://www.pharmalive.com/multiple...19-mortality-rate-may-be-lower-than-expected/

back of *** packet estimates at the rates suggested show a roughly 1% mortality rate, depending on what you’re adding on for care homes deaths etc.
