1. Easy. It was you who brought up 'experts' to bail out Boris. I gave you another example of what 'experts' brought us.

2. Everyone believed the NHS (note, not just nurses) deserved a pay rise, everyone apart from 323 tory cnuts in the HoC & of course their sycophant followers who saw the victory, but not the substance. That's now 10 years of their pay capped at 1%. Or less. Nurses capped at !% for the last 5 years. The previous 5 years totalled only 2%. In 10 years, next to fcuk all.
You mentioned Nurse's pay in particular, trumpeting that they start on band 5 on £24k pa. Do you know WHY they start on band 5? Because they have to! They now require a degree, but that's obviously escaped your notice. 3 years minimum unpaid study & a whopping student debt before they can get such a ****e wage. If they did, say, a 40 hour week on minimum wage, they could have earned £54k over that 3 years instead of running up an average debt of £54k. They start £108k down on the deal! They could have joined the police on £25k with fcuk all need for a degree! Nurses used to get paid to learn, just like cops, but now they actually pay for the privilege of workings, unpaid, for 2000 hours on the wards as part of their course.

And they cheered this.

3. OK, so it repeats itself. Can't be bothered arguing that point. But tell me where it's wrong. And don't give me hindsight, because almost every other western country has made a better fist of this. They had experts too. And I don't believe any of them performed a U-turn, because they got it right. Herd my arse! How very Ayrian.

I note that you can pick apart bits of the meme, but note most alarmingly that you do not respond to the question at the end. What positivity does Boris offer? Nearly dying is the closest I can think of.

1) So what should Boris have done, not listen to scientific experts? You fail to give him credit for acting on the advice of experts and still listening to them when they advise ia change of course is required. The entire world failed to stop the spread but for Boris haters it’s easy to blame him

2) The lockdown in regards to timing, measures and how far we go is way too debatable and far too many “what ifs” to have a definitive right or wrong answer.

3) Boris failed to bail out workers for two weeks or Boris was quick to implement unprecedented measures within two weeks, it depends if you like or dislike him. I’m just pointing out it’s a meme that repeats itself to look worse for the Boris haters.

4) If someone is deciding on a future and they decide they want to be a nurse and they’ve seen the pay scale then it’s his or her choice. The average wage for an A&E nurse is £59k I think that’s more than decent https://www.maydayhealthcareplc.co.uk/nurse-pay-rates-by-sectors/a-and-e-nurse/s47001/ Again though, the haters will make it sound like they cheered against the nurses, the truth is they cheered as they beat Corbin
Is it possible to leave the nurses out of this discussion, my sister is a nurse and I worry about her. She has never complained about money, ever, just that there aren't enough of them.

My uneducated view is that I reckon in a few months we will have or be somewhere near to herd immunity in this country (UK). I think there are lots of untested people who have had this thing.

I know of 5 people in my team who have unofficially had it, shown all the symptoms and now thankfully recovering. They had it bad! At least another 4 have had mild symptoms, like a cold. So that's a possible 9 out of a team of 16. Not taking in to account asymptomatic cases.

The testing has really only been done on hospital admissions until the last couple of days. I'm hoping that if the entire population had been tested then we could have millions upon millions of people who had it already.

Now, if you look at Singapore. They did a hell of a job suppressing this thing. Kept numbers down and used tracing to stop it spreading. Great stuff but it looks like a few cases got away from them and now the numbers are rising quickly.

I fear the same will happen New Zealand. They have managed to suppress the outbreak but they will have to lock their borders for years until this virus dies out completely or it could get out of hand there too!

I think they’re doing a great job, I was replying to WJ and the cheering comment but I take your point and agree. For the record I have family members and friends who are nurses too <ok>

1. If Corbyn had done this you'd have ripped him apart, just like the Blair. But oh, no, Boris MUST be right - he's got my spit in the crack of his arse! Labour can't listen to 'experts', but Bodger Boris can. Boris in his actions, reactions & U-turns will have no doubt caused far more deaths than the soldiers Blair killed in Iraq. So, using your 'Boris is right to act on expert advice', you are actually saying that Blair was right to do the same. Sorry, can't have it both ways. Both were wrong. The entire world may have failed to stop the spread, but if you exclude minor principalities, only 5 countries have a higher death per million population than us. Makes you proud, doesn't it? Not. The rest of the world seem to be doing a good deal better under their leadership.

2. You can debate all you like, but the numbers I've mentioned above run a coach & horses through that notion. There are lots of other pointers, but this is the most damning. He even helped spread it himself by insisting on shaking hands everywhere he went. A bit of over-zealous 'herd optioning', I'm guessing.

3. It doesn't bloody repeat itself. It presents different aspects of a similar subject. All details challenged are equally important. Why your aversion to detail?

4. Fcuk off with your £59k average. That's for agency workers. Something quite, quite different. Your link is only to one agency, as far as I can see. That's what privatisation does for you. And what the tories are working towards. Lots of examples in the links I gave you if you want specifics of the bits they've sold off already.
And fcuk off with your cheering a victory against Corbyn nonsense. They had bloody hundreds of such 'victories'. They cheered once. Corbyn. Really? FFS!
Yes, kind & caring people choose to be nurses, whatever the salary. It's a vocation. Just like it used to be in the emergency services. But only nurses need degrees now - and still their pay remains below the other services (who also can retire after 30 years with a handsome pension too, unlike the NHS). Are you going to tell me they save more lives? How come it's only nurses that have been targeted? Because it's a vocation & they're an easy target. The tories just love them.
I also note that you've ignored my last comment, so I'll reproduce it here for you:

"I note that you can pick apart bits of the meme, but note most alarmingly that you do not respond to the question at the end. What positivity does Boris offer? Nearly dying is the closest I can think of."

You've got lots of deflection defences for him, but not one positive factor. Wonder why?

This has been my concern about trying to prevent it spreading past a handful of people. It’s no use doing that and knowing all the other countries have took their hit now and one day ours is still to come. In my opinion it’s far better taking the hit now with the rest of the world in an approach we can handle.

Some scientific woman was on TV the other day, she said we’re at least a year away from a vaccine and even then the rolling out of it would be slow as everyone in the entire world will want it.

Everyone will have a different opinion on how it should be handled and everyone will have a positive or negative view on how the government is doing. If they don’t get the balance right with leaving the economy in a position that it can one day recover then god help us when the next pandemic strikes because asking people to stay at home now is in one ear and out the other for many. I found it staggering that Manchester police broke up 660 house, street and Karaoke parties last week.

None of us know what long term damage this is going to leave us with and if we did go total lock down then the elderly and vulnerable wouldn’t be receiving their medication and the average house would have no food.

I voted Blair and Labour, I had no issues at the time on going to war with Iraq. I still don’t know if it was right or wrong, I haven’t a crystal ball to see what the other outcome would be. I might vote for Starmer next time, I’ll see nearer the time but he seems pretty decent. I vote on who I think is the best to run the country out of the two genuine candidates. I’m not a supporter of Labour or Conservative, I just vote for the lesser of the two evils and when Corbyn is one it makes my choice too easy.

I think Boris announced swift aid for both business and workers including the self employed, you think he failed twice once taking 2 weeks to get help to the employed on PAYE and another taking 3 weeks to announce a package for the self employed, I think it’s repeated nonsense you think it’s genuine.

If you can’t see the meme repeats itself then you’re letting your Tory hatred spill over and it’s really not worth hitting this back and forth turning into several pages of nonsense.

New Zealand had just their 2nd death, read it on another forum and had to look it up, they’ve suppressed it like nobody else has managed
You cannot compare one country with another. The geographical layout is different for a start. Plus how many new Zealanders were in Spain or Italy or France. If you check the data today you will see that France has the most deaths per percentage of confirmed cases. Do I trust any of these figures? No not one bit and China are surely lying through their teeth.

Totally agree and I don't believe Turkey either. Japan is not on lockdown amazingly and people are being asked not to go to bars and restaurants.
Turkey is shutting down the big cities this weekend but only for 48 hours.

This is something that's not going to be eradicated, at some point you will be exposed and then you'll either survive or die until a vaccine is tested and working, could be 12 18 months who knows.

The whole exercise in the uk was only ever to suppress numbers to a manageable level.
When lock down ceases dont be surprised to see numbers increase again, it's how the gov deal with the exit strategy that will be interesting.

Personally I don't think anyone knows, best to follow the Chinese to see what happens there. Problem with that is nobody knows the true extent of cases and deaths there.

A FRESH coronvirus outbreak in China's Henan province has raised fears of a devastating second COVID-19 wave - despite the ruling Chinese Communist Party's attempts to claim the country is winning the battle against the disease.

Apparently another 600,000 have just gone on a complete lock down in China

You could argue each and everyone of those points, both for and against and this was obviously put together by a Boris hater. A lot of the decisions were based on scientific advice, I would hope that scientific advice would always be the correct and right way forward over opinion.

Several of the “Failed” repeat themselves to look more than there is....

Failed to lockdown 3 weeks earlier
Failed to implement full lockdown
Failed to close the borders.... In other words the opinion is he failed to lock us down sooner and harder. Would that have been the right approach is debatable

Failed to bail out workers
Failed to bail out self employed.... It’s the same thing both are workers and the complaint is it took 2/3 weeks to implement?

Ventilators, was there actually a shortage in any hospital, did he not act quick enough to ensure there was no shortage?

Failed to follow his own advice, nobody knows how he caught it, if you’re knocking him for catching it then surely you’re knocking everyone else and saying serves you right for not washing your hands?
Despite the scots seeming to know Boris was doing everything wrong, Nicola Sturgeon made all the same mistakes, surely she should be sacked immediately. <whistle>

No matter what forum you look at football, hifi, music whatever everywhere is the same. The blame game it's the easiest one to play but in reality few have the answers. Bored people blowing smoke up each others arses, thinking they are holding officials to account.
This and most other fora, forums are a speck on the Internet.

China are definitely lying through their teeth.

Data from the 3 biggest Chinese mobile telephone operators state that 21 million contracts have been cancelled in the last 2 months.

Worst case scenario would be herd immunity (for this strand at least, that's an altogether different topic). Herd immunity, given the contagious nature of this virus, looks to be anywhere between 50% and 80% of the population. That would be 35-55 million of the population are required to catch it.

Reports from Italy (backed up by the Germans, South Koreans and the Chinese) are suggesting that a substantial % of cases have NO symptoms at all. An Italian study has suggested that between 10-20 million people have had this and recovered without getting tested or in fact showing any symptoms. They even went as far as saying it could even be double that figure. Italy population stands at 60 million.

To me that's an entirely feasible claim from what I have seen around me!

You've clearly not listened to a word she says, only a snippet or two of what may have been reported in the english media.
But she's the leader of the Scottish Parliament, did Scotland lock down 3 weeks before England ? did scotish hospitals buy thousands of ventilators, close down schools ? months before England ? These things were her and the SNPs job, nothing to do with Boris.
Lot's with good hindsight, why didn't Corbyn tell everyone ( prepare now) in Jan ?.
