Why in the name of God do groundsmen even bother painting quadrants on the corners of a football pitch? I mean nobody ever seems to use them anymore. Inter took one tonight that must have been 6 ****ing inches outside of it. Linemen & referees continually allow this to happen, might as well just do away with them altogether.
same with throw-ins. take em from wherever they want and not from over the head. standards are falling x
The rule states that some part of the ball must be touching the quadrant - and that means even a mm of the ball touching the line - a lot of fans don't realise this and complain that the ball is out of the quadrant when it's sitting touching the line (only just)! - however, the Inter one was a ****ing joke!!!
Part of the ball must be touching the line stu: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/refereeing/law_17_the_corner_kick_en_47358.pdf This is the picture from the fifa rules:
Am I correct in saying that one lineman runs the centre line to one corner & the other runs the centre line to the opposite corner? If that's the case & it go's out on the side they're not running, then that's possibly why they continually get away with it. Either way, it makes no difference, it's still cheating.
people who have never played at a decent level dont realise that you look for enhancements for your kick, these are usually on the edge as is is aleady raised
Go back a few years to when refs insisted on kicks and throws being taken from the spot the offence happened or the ball went out. Commentators, mainly Sky, gave them a hard time for being fussy.
