Vedran Corluka has been announced as the latest signing for Lokomotiv Moscow today. No fee has been mentioned, but he's put pen to paper on a three year deal. please log in to view this image
The one on the left was in Scooby Doo. Good to see we've got rid of another malcontent that's not really needed. Just Gomes, Jenas, Bentley and GDS. Am I missing someone or is that list getting very short now?
It's nice to know that we can replace him by merely doing nothing. please log in to view this image Just don't bloody sell him to Villa!
Several Spurs blogs have said that this transfer hasn't been confirmed on Lokomotiv's official website yet. It has, just not the English language section. http://www.fclm.ru/ru/info/news/?id_4=16979
Looks like he even has time to mark some essays..... clearly they will have to up the training regime!!!
5 million Euros is rumoured, that's about 4 million in proper money. Anyone know how much we paid for him?
I always felt nervous watching Corluka and I didn't think he was suited to the cut and thrust of the PL. However, he did put in some sterling performances for us on occasions and he did link up well with Lennon which was undoubtedly an asset to us. It seems as if his time with us got a bit sour towards the end and so I guess his transfer probably suits both parties.
The first game I saw him play for us(Villa at home) his touch looked well off and at one stage he couldn't make a 5 yard pass down the line, instead watching it sliced straight out of play. I didn't give him much hope after that but he really impressed me, as you say, forging a very good partnership with Lennon and also showing a surprising amount of skill for a player who looks so cumbersome throwing in the odd Atouba style stepover in our own half Very much a likable player from what you get on the pitch from him but against the pacier players he was found out too often and in the end it's definitely better that he's left. Would be nice if we got to host Corluka and Pav or Kranjcar in the Europa League next season, they all contributed during their time and it'd be good to give them their due applause after they all left on a negative note.
Yes, I would agree with that. All of them made contributions during their time with us and all of them had their fans, particuarly Pav. I am sure if they ever return to WHL, the fans will take the opportunity to show their appreciation to them. I very much like the way we always do that to returning players, apart from one or two exceptions of course.
wasn't Corluka a CB before joining us though? perhaps he wasn't used to needing any pace and it all came as a bit of a surprise!
That would be good YV - all 3 contributed to a very successful period at our club and it would be nice to have the chance to voice that appreciation. And then beat them, of course......
Most of them end up playing for us again I know Berba got booed but I can't remember what the reaction was to Carrick leaving but I imagine that might have been negative too. Apart from those I can't really think of any others that got a bad time recently, although Ghaly got it when he was still at Spurs
I don't recall him playing for City, to be honest but when he played at CB for us he didn't look great. We're rapidly running out of Croats now though Yeah, I always look forward to Blackburn at home for Robbo's return and it was good to see Steed and Tainio even though I was never really a fan of Malbranque.
He was right back at City - at the time we signed him, we looked as if 3-5-2 would be an option, but never went for it. Either way, Charlie was always a reliable player at the back. He may have been slow, but could read the game well and could start some moves when he ventured forwards. But I guess he was the odd man out. A shame, really.
