I was very upset when he left Bristol City in a major rush but time has tempered my feelings on him and when you consider that since that time he really hasn't achieved any stardom maybe it was for the best - but I still have my doubts as to what really happened.

I think he saw something in the club, that he felt he didn't want to be part of.

For starters, Steve Coppell is their new director of football. Not a bad appointment, since he's got a ton of experience in the game. Like it or not, his credentials outside of us are more than good enough.

When he quit us, he said that it would probably be his last stint as a manager, and I'm happy to see that that's still the case. A part of me would be quite annoyed to see him take another job as manager.

Deep down, I think the board forced his hand in leaving when he did, but the stories at the time suggested depression, amongst other things. He ****ed us over a bit, but deep down I don't think that was his intention, and I still believe he's probably a good guy that did us a favour by getting out when he did. I hope he does well at Portsmouth, but I hope that any decision he makes to go back into management isn't taken lightly.
