Liam gone on loan to Huddersfield. http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2388410,00.html? Will this bring Ayala in?
You'd hope so, though hopefully it's not a case of putting 2 and 2 together and making 5! Would love it if we got Ayala though.
A seperate issue but Cooper needs regular first team football and Huddersfield fits the bill very well for all parties.
Glowing reference for Coops from Lee Clark: Town boss Lee Clark told his club's official website: "As well as being a very aggressive boy with excellent reading of the game, Liam brings a bit of extra pace and mobility to the centre-back area and importantly he is left footed. "We have found it really hard to find a quality left-sided centre-half since I've been here and Peter Clarke has done terrifically on that side but Liam would give us that bit of balance if he forces his way into the side. "Nigel Pearson [Hull manager] rates him very highly and I understand why. I already had my own thoughts on him following our scouting process and having seen him play against us for Carlisle but his recommendation sealed the deal."
We now only have Hobbs and Chester for centre back plus McShane if he stays. We must therefore be in the market for at least one centre back. Ayala would be a good signing if we could pull it off.
I think he could do a good job for us given a chance, interesting that Pearson rates him highly or is this just Clark talking up his signing?
I think that transfers should all be kept under wraps until they happen. The first you should know about a signing should be at half-time during an arranged friendly. The actual transfer has already taken place. During the friendly the signing plays for their old club during the first half. At half time they wheel out a table with each eleven standing on one side. Eventually the signing takes a step forward and signs a mock-up contract, before changing shirt and then heading off to the other dressing room with his new teammates. It's obviously contrived but at least 10 fans would spontaneously combust during the first half due to excitement and it may boost attendances at pre-season games if you could be guaranteed of a signing.
If that was the way of it we'd manage to cock it up by signing Gulacsi and then inviting Ayala (as their captain for the day) to step forward and invite him to sign the contract.
Anyone else think its wrong when we have a Hull born and bred brought through the ranks who we keep sending out on loan. Then we look at bringing in loan players. I am totally against it. Let Liam Cooper learn and ply his trade here.
But if hes not as good as what were bringing in but could be after a full season then seems the right way to go
Most City fans agree he needs to play regular first team football now. Huddersfield is a good fit for him now. But for sure its time Cooper stepped up his game. He has the talent. Needs to do it on the pitch.
Do you mean that he gets experience by letting in goals? Better he does that at Udders and then comes back tried and tested.
Not since our loanee centre backs we've been trying to sign on permanent deals once we know they fit in, Ayala would be a permanent signing not a loan, and it benefits Cooper more to go and play regularly in L1 than it does to sit on the bench with Hobbs and Chester starting every week. Plus being loaned out was good enough for David Beckham when he was younger so I don't see why Cooper should be above it.
You have to believe in young players and stick by them, Otherwise scrap the youth system and loan Man U youngsters before signing them on.
Nah, that's too alarmist. We've got good players coming through at the moment. The problem in the past 5 years is that our youth system is just recovering from years and years of neglect. We've barely made a player for years. The only really decent players to come through have been Cairney and Anderson, both picked up from other clubs. Cooper looks to be the best "proper" youth product for years. Even he might not make it. That's no reason to give up. Firstly because we are producing kids now and secondly because getting players into our first team isn't the only goal of a youth system, it's just a bonus. Man United and Arsenal have hardly produced any first teams through their youth system for years but they consistently produce youth players who go and ply their trade elsewhere in the PL or football league. That generates a lot of income.
Yeah but on that basis you wouldnt be able to loan Man U youngsters as they would be picked in their own team Its just natural progression for a young player to go out on loan to a lesser team, thats why we get premiership youngsters on loan and a league 1 team will get ours on loan, then when they have proven they are good enough they go back to the parent club to force their way into the team or they are sold/released if not good enough without causing bad results for the parent club
