Former Sunderland and Brighton boss Gus Poyet and his regular assistant, Blues legend Mauricio Taricco, are reportedly the men Town will look to recruit if current manager Mick McCarthy moves on in the summer.

So it says in the Sun...

To start with, I can't see Mick leaving this summer and secondly I can't see Evans going for someone who is considered to be a bit of a loose canon? He had his fingers burnt with Keane.. Also I would expect whoever our next manager is to have been based on the recommendation of Mick

I think Poyet could well be a successful manager in the future, he has a decent record in his short spell and has a lot of potential to forge a successful career in the game, he also could implode at his next job and struggle to get a high level managerial job again, such is his reported levels of diva. In my opinion he is far too much of a risk for us to take given the good work to get us where we are (based on where we were when Mick came on board)

I also think (like Keane) that he is considered for manager jobs based on being a famous 'name' as a player (rightly or wrongly) and think there are better Managers out there

Just what the doctor ordered...I think they're just what we need.

That's strange, somebody mentioned Poyet as a candidate a few weeks ago on these very boards! He'd seem like a good fit and while I have my reservations about some of his time at Brighton and Sunderland, I think he has more successes next to his name than failures. Taricco as assistant would be a nice PR move on the club's part as well, and would certainly go a long way to restoring a bit of pride and goodwill about Portman Road. The football would be nice too.

Question is, would Poyet realistically want to join a club with a severe lack of investment, a non-existent transfer budget, and ballooning expectations? Probably not.

Although Evans is tight when it comes to transfers....he does throw money at the management.

I think expectations will be lower again next season, Nuggets.
For some, it's already more about the actual football than league position.
