*wisdom of the crowds thread* I am up for promotion, but find myself pitted against a colleague. This colleague is perfectly nice, but is a game player and sucks the right dicks and sniffs the right arses to get ahead. Now, they keep coming to me for advice prior to their interview. I'm fairly altruistic and have helped a lot of my colleagues prepare for interviews... should I this time? I will respect the outcome of the poll, and abide by it's sweet justice.
Not sure I've ever worked anywhere that you didn't already know who was going to get the promotion the moment it was available to be honest. Though more often than not in my current place people "act up" in the role for a year or two with no extra pay before the job finally gets advertised to a candidate "with the right experience" and lo and behold the person doing the job for 12+ months already fits the bill! Good luck whatever you choose to do.
You need to start sucking the right dicks too or you are going to miss out. You could practice on ACS - he is a right dick.
If you are both genuinely in contention and you both know this then it would fine to say you shouldn't help him. Make joke of it or whatever. If he's a game player then he's probably trying to suss you out to undermine you and not genuinely after help?
I've dealt with him too, a total grade A bastard. Luckily he's a bit slow and doesn't know I've been nobbing his wife and skimming money from him, you'll be fine.
I can't take this seriously. Clearly you should **** them over subtlety. I can't advise how as I don't know what you do. But you should feed them some plausible information that you intend to use in your interview. Ensure this information is obviously not ridiculous (sorry Tel the bukkake techniques is out). This should basically be the complete opposite of what your bosses want. **** them over good and proper. Then once in your new role, laud it over them and reveal how you parted their cheeks and drilled it in like a piling rig. Mate, there is no place in this world for any kind of soppy wetness. If you want to get on, you have to be willing to stamp on a few skulls along the way. Make this world great again. Build a wall.
Never lower your standards. Give the colleague the right advice (but you could do it in earshot of those carrying out the interviews?)
You do what's right for yourself and do not live life with regret, it's ok to support and help others but don't put your needs second when it matters to you, as the saying goes in the North East, "Shy bairns get nowt".
Sorry, I should be more specific but didn't think I need to with the amount of times I have said it. Haidara had far more potential than Dummett. Needed areas to work on but could have been done whereas Dummett could never learn how to attack. Sadly, Hadiara following his "accidental" collision with Mcmanaman's leg he lost a lot of confidence. Now, with the brilliant fan base that we have, you would have thought he would have been supported alas he was jeered. Subsequently his game time went to 30 minutes a year including reserves games. So of course he has not progressed as he should have done. Now he needs a run of games (pity he was injured at the same time as Dummett). Do I think Haidara will fulfil his potential? No, he won't. Do I think Dummett should be in the NUFC squad let alone first team starter? No.
