Another great result today and I for one couldn't be happier with the style of football we are currently playing.

When the fixtures were announced we really did look to have a very favorable run of games and I, like many, expected us to bang in the goals left right and centre and while we have not done that, the way we have been playing might actually be better for us.

Controlling games against the likes of Middlesbrough and Barnsley by patiently subduing the opposition may not be the best to watch and there are I'm sure fans who might be demanding we score more goals or go a bit more gung-ho. This is great and I am sure we could do that, but there will be much bigger tests to come whereby gung-ho football will leave us very vulnerable and lead to potential defeats.

Playing and practicing safe, containing football in these early games will pay dividends when we NEED to use it against the Forests, Watfords and Readings of the league who will offer greater threat. The players will be well drilled on slow controlled possession football and I am sure that when the bigger tests come, we will be ready for them.

I think you are right, 3 tough away fixtures on the trot for us and we need to try and see the majority of the ball in these games
Millwall will raise their game against us and the other two are going to be very tough to get a result

One of our many failings over the last two seasons has been inability to keep the ball, unable to string more than 2 passes together. We seem to be correcting that and I completely agree Kampala, it will help us no end.

Me too. Another positive from keeping the ball for long periods is that the opposition are knackered in the last 20 mins when you bring on the likes of Hoilett to run at them. It's working. We're winning. We're not conceding. I love it!

You're probably right Kampala, but it was all a bit too Swansea for me today. I was begging for a forward pass at times.

But presumably those forward passes came later on once we'd made the change and they were tiring?

We had more threat when Hoilett came on because he offered something different.

But do you not see my point about keeping the ball, knackering the opposition and then making the change to take the game away from them? (Unless we've already taken it away from them like last week)

Ok. That's one way of looking at it. They may also have dealt with him much better when they were fresher.

Stroller / Col, I see both points. Hoilet offered someone who was able to actually go round a player. Until that we insisted on stopping and passing. It's proven effective but many around me today were just as frustrated. When there is an obvious forward pass we've got to look to take it over the sideways or backward one. Sod's law we could easily have conceded on the break today and were very lucky to not have a penalty given against us at the end of first half. A stone bonker handball although we had one later too!

Maybe they had the clean sheets record in the backs of their minds.

They didnt want to take chances and lead to a break the other way?
Maybe things will change once we concede and we wont always take the safe option.

On a positive note, at least we can pick apart teams who come here to park the bus.
