Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says that he must avoid "a Mourinho season" as the champions attempt to defend their Premier League title.

Jose Mourinho won the league with Chelsea in 2015 but was sacked the next season with the club in 16th place.

"Two years ago Chelsea finished 10th; that cannot happen again," Conte said.

The last team to win back-to-back Premier League titles were Manchester United, who completed a hat-trick of successive wins in 2008-09.

"We know the difficulty and for sure we want to avoid the Mourinho season with Chelsea," Conte added.

"The coaches of the previous two champions [Chelsea and Leicester] both lost their jobs [the next season] and we are working very well to find the best solutions and use them," Conte said.

He isn't half setting up rival managers to really think he's a tool is he. Not that I'm complaining when it's Mourinho mind, because let's face he genuinely a detestable tool. Anyway... just Pep, Klopp and Arsene to go to get a little dig in.

Thought it was a funny comment tbh. It was very Maureen-esque and he would have been seething when he heard it.

Sounds like a typical Italian, one gigantic step forward but dreading the two he might have to take back..

Admire the man though, was a pile of ****e to the press in October but got them the title with 2 fingers up..

I reckon Klopp's gonna have the biggest of all meltdowns. Coutinho transfer request flying in any day now and he keeps getting told to ****off by RB Leipzig for his main target.

Both Klopp and Conte have colossal meltdown potential.

Should eithers side have a bad run of results and the pressure starts to crank up, then I can foresee players being lobbed under the bus left, right and centre, and arm waving madness from the pair of barely sane dingbats.

    Mourinho's reply:
    ‘I don’t’ know.
‘I could answer in many different ways but I’m not willing to lose my hair to speak about Antonio Conte.’

Ha ha. Great comeback from Jose. Well funny, as Conte is obviously well vain.

PS Well done on making Prem football affordable for fans next season. Hope Chelsea do the same when we play at Three Point Wembley ..I doubt it though :(
