For once FIFA made a right decision in giving Brazil the World Cup - it's a football country and deserves it. When the decision was made the Brazilian economy was doing well and the decision looked the right one.

HOWEVER, where FIFA and the Organising Committee (or WC equivalent) have been negligent is to let things get too far behind schedule. Now the workers are paying for it with their lives. Expect more protests from the public about the expense of the WC and the legacy it leaves (many of the infrastructure projects way behind / cancelled)

If you think Brazil has problems, wait until Russia and Qatar move forward - still both countries have got money so that's all right for Herr Blatter

It is always very sad when someone dies at work. Northern Europe is quite hot on safety in the work place compared with other parts of the world.
As an example in the nearest town to where I lived in Portugal, in a company cutting and finishing marble and granite.
    No air extraction
    No eye goggles
    No ear defenders
    No face masks
Public allowed to wander around factory floor
Nobody taking the slightest notice of safety regulations.

And Brazil is a long way behind Portugal.

Strange ain't it that, people complain about our nanny state on Health and Safety.
I've worked at a few of the major RMC companies, with as some would say over powering . One we was only allowed to carry one cup of hot drink at a time, no trays etc.
in between one I worked for a smaller independent company where I can honestly say I didn't feel as safe.

So which would I rather, I will stick with the ones that might be over powering. At least I know that their concern is I get home at night, if only for statistic rating at least it's my health that concerns them.
