So, as you can probably tell, I'm new to the forum. I've been a Liverpool supporter since I first could watch the premier league, about ten years ago her in USA. And every year I watch lfc, there seems to be one thing missing.

For as long as I can remember, we have been beating the rest of the top four relatively consistently, yet we haven't won the title. What does that tell me? Well, personally, I believe that it's inconsistency. And that stems from a lack of focus in the games against weaker sides. When the #6 team loses twice to a team that would eventually be relegated, something's wrong. It seems we (Liverpool) are worried more about an upcoming fixture than the games at hand. We seem to be overlooking the blackpool's and Blackburn's of the league. This is where having king Kenny will most greatly benefit us. He knows how to get the best out of his team everytime, every game. As for the transfers, I have faith that king kenny knows his team's strengths and weaknesses, and will bolster the squad accordingly.

    And, as always, YNWA!

We definitely need a big helping of consistency mate, we seemed to be getting there under KK bar last two games where, well, we didnt seem to want to win? Maybe we didnt want the Europa? I dont know

Welcome mate i agree with you there. I think part of the problem has been a lack of attacking quality and depth. The Birminghams and teams like that who we would rest Torres and the likes for so that he would be back fit for the big games have taken too many points off us. One great thing about this January is simply the fact we now have 2 attacking threats (Carroll, Suarez) for the price of 1 (Torres) which means if one is injured we should still be a threat.

Also if next year we now have Henderson, Gerrard (back fit), Aquilani and maybe somebody like Charlie Adam, then we no longer have the worry that with an injury or two we have to field a midfield of Poulsen Lucas and Mereiles with Ngog up front. We can play 2 attack-minded mdifielders and a quality forward, which i think has been the core of our problems in breaking teams down.

    Welcome to the forum!

You make some excellent points. At the end of the day, if you beat United or Blackburn, it's 3 points. We need to take every game as seriosuly as the next game. In my opinion, it's quite pointless raising your game against Chelsea and getting the three points and then going to Blackburn and losing. Winning one week and losing the next isn't going to help the team if we are going to be pushing for a top 4 place.

I also think squad depth comes into it. In the past couple of seasons when Torres got injured, we had N'Gog left as our only senior striker. We then struggled to finish teams off. Having Suarez, Carroll and maybe another striker will give us options if one of the main strikers gets injured. This is better than a couple of seasons ago. We had a good first 11 and a relatively poor bench/squad. We seem to be building up a squad and that is crucial.

    To the OP.
    Welcome aboard.
    Skrtles nips brilliant observation.
Fernando Torres played for Fernando Torres,I'm not saying that he didn't do any good for the side as he scored valuable goals. But what did we win with him in the side.Nothing.I believe Andy Carroll will give us more...much more than Torres ever did.
Personally I like players that are involved all the time.I thought Kevin Keegan was wonderful, and I'm not old enough to see him live, but the footage I've seen proves that.He was awesome even if not the most talented.Kenny Dalglish although more talented was exactly the same,He was involved in everything.
Luis Suarez is exactly like that. He's what a Liverpool number 7 should be.Incredible work-rate and mesmerising skill.
Skrtels Nips.I think it was you that said recently that, you love watching Suarez in action in that you think to yourself ''How in the name of sweet jesus did he do that''.Sometimes I was the same way,I was thinking to myself ''ah come on''.This is rediculous.
The game against Fulham away for the first 45 minutes was the the best piece of football I had seen Liverpool play in god knows how long.Suarez didn't score until the second half, but was involved in everything, dropping off, winning posession,he played 3 different positions in one game.
The lad is un-markable.Will he be found out?Not a chance of it.He does however need to be a little bit more selfish,as if he was more selfish he would have scored more than the 4 goals he did score. But since January he created 12 goals.4 goals 8 assists.
The boundless energy and enthusiasm is wonderful. And we all know he can score goals,as his Dutch league record read somethong like 115 goals in 148 appearances. And the manner of the goals too.Breath-taking.
I reckon we will be become more consistent with these types of players,as we've only really only had two before in Kuyt and Gerrard, now we have four in Kuyt,Gerrard,Suarez and Henderson. These are what I call ''High energy players''.

It is true we haven't had a strong bench in a long time, and I had considered that, but I still believe our bench was much stronger than some of the teams we lost to in the premier league. I do agree, though, that with a stronger bench, we will improve vastly. Another bench player people seem to forget (or choose to forget,) is Joe Cole. I think he might be in Dalglish's plans, as once he was healthy, he seemed to be coming in late in the game. Albeit, those games were already won, but why play a player you don't want to keep? I think he is going to keep Joe Cole AT LEAST until he is sure about Meireles' future. If Meireles is gone, Joe Cole may be his replacement. And I don't know that that is so bad. Joe Cole was doing well before he got injured.

EDIT: not that Meireles leaving is good, I rate him highly as he works hard to get and keep the ball, but Joe Cole could prove beneficial to keep as well, as we all know he has skill.

Like I said before, I trust King Kenny, and he sees things we don't (I.e. Training) so the only way I feel nervous is out of excitement. I can't wait for the new season!

Yes mate agree with that. The Fulham game was just a joy to behold. He's one of those players that just improves the watching experience. That means the fans are in a better mood which reflects back on the players, and also his little bits of a skill and stuff get everyone going, which is important if you want to keep teams under the cosh and stay on the front foot. He contributes on a lot of levels to the performance. You don't get any Braga-type performances with him in the team, because he will always give you some moment of magic, and the Braga game was devoid of anything like that.

I also think he isn't the most consistent finisher (or at least wasn't last season), but was in loads of goalscoring positions and hit the woodwork a few times, so when he hits a purple patch i'm expecting goals to match assists, and it to be a steady stream in the meantime.

Suarez is a relelation. You just know he's NOT the kind of player who will get 'found out'. His mobility and vision is amazing and you can just tell he enjoys playing every minute with a big smile on his face. He's not scared to get stuck in either. I've not seen many foreign players who've come to the Prem and hit the ground running like he did: and then he just continued. What gane was it when he scored that goal at the near post from an impossible. Many said the goalie should have had it covered, but I reckon he thought "I'll cover the cross 'cos he's not having a go from there". To sum him up, he's the nearest in style of play and in a Red Shirt to KK himself.

With respect to Meireles, there was a post earlier saying that Aquilani is coming back. If Raul does go, that would ease some of the worry for me. I reckon he's a good 'un.

I mean this in the nicest possible way....Luis Suarez is a cheeky little ****er.
Some of the stuff he does a lot of players wouldn't attempt...let alone pull off.One example and this is not the obvious one,and I'm not going to mention it,even though I'm tempted,is what he did against Newcastle at Anfield. He took a Pepe punt onto his chest and attempted to wriggle along the byline until he was hacked down, and won Liverpool a penalty. His goal against Fulham typified him.It involved skill and energy and awareness and was simple in its execution. It was a one-two with Dirk Kuyt and then he finished. He's by no means going to get found out. He's the orchestrator in what Liverpool do well.

Suarez is a player that just brings a smile to your face. His like your typical five year old son, you know his upto something mischievous and a cheeky little ****er but you just have to love him deep down.

Its all about character, something we've lacked in a long time. Carroll has it too, tall and strong, beer-loving beast.

By the way I'm only 16 so the Suarez 'kid' comparison is figuratively speaking.

He is cheaky, reminds me a little bit of Fowler in that sense.

Character is key in teams, we clearly did not have enough earlier last season.
