Double standards by us and yet again millions more wasted tax payers money to be spent. people will soon moan if we raise taxes to pay for looking after a few people 10,000 miles away...<laugh>

No. That was no less provocative than UK/USA training drills in Poland recently. That stunt has no place in football.

good for Argentina I fully support their stance and i hope they use every opportunity to shame our government in every game. The support for Argentinian is vast in this dispute with many countries.

I do question whether you served on the Sheffield - maybe you missed its sinking together with the death of 20 crew.

But why start another thread? Don't understand. As for payback then no, as others have said there's no place for political stunts like that in football, end of. But as you've insisted on reopening this debate (why I don't know) the Argentians refer to it as miltary exercises "on occupied Argentinian territory" - it's not. It's a British Overseas Territory even though they would like to think it's theirs. If we want to conduct military exercises there then we can. Get over it.

Let's just bomb the bastards and give them something to moan about ;)

As someone else stated the presidents grip on power is going tits up and she's looking for a political equaliser to improve her ratings.

Dai given the contempt you have I do question on times if you served or not in the Falklands.

You're probably right, a new thread isn't that necessary. I thought that the navy drills could be considered a big provocation by UK on Argentina. But I should have posted it in the other thread: waste of space. Sorry to all offended.

There are many like me valley. We heard the belgrano had turned around and was sailing back towards Argentina and sir sandy Woodward told thatcher this and she still ordered the ship to be sunk...that is a bitter pill to swallow and many of us cant forget her criminal act that triggered Argentina's response. so don't tell me what is right or wrong as i witnessed it first hand and it is not something i wish to see anyone else going through again for political gain..

Dai's solution is to allow the inhabitants of the Falklands be invaded, possibly beaten and the women raped. You know what I mean Dai, it always happens like that.

I am with Valley, I am very sceptical of the claim you were there.

I dont care what anyone thinks ..you should know that by now....I don't believe in war in any shape or form and there is many ex servicemen and women who think the same...If Argentina land back on the Falklands then so be it. we don't have the power now to fight back and even more lives would be lost than last time...It's not worth it...

At the start of the Falkland s war , the British warned there was a nucleur sub in the region , even though there wasn't , and said any Argentina navy vessel would be sunk within 200 miles of the islands . The Argentina vessels left the 200 mile region around the islands and when the British sub finally got there it went outside the 200 miles and sunk the Argentina battleship ...

Well I know a couple of lads who were on various ships, during the Falklands conflict. One lad I played football with was on HMS Glamorgan and lucky to escape with his life. By pure coincidence the reason he is alive today, is that he wanted his tea in his Swans mug. All his mates that were in the radio room at the time, where he should have been lost there lives.

Now living in a Naval area, two lads I work with one was on Sheffield, and another on Galahad both still suffering from the aftermath to this day.

My thoughts on it are too many people lost there lives to then throw it all away, to a jumped up President trying to stir things up to get her popularity up.

The residents of the Islands have voted to be part of the UK, so there is no way these islands will be handed over to Argentina.

This whole topic started off with the Argentinean football team holding a flag claiming the Falklands as theirs. Politics and football should be kept apart. If a Swansea City player was standing behind that flag, they would feel my full vilification at a game. Many a good man lost there lives in The Falklands, for them to pull this publicity stunt (which is what I think it is) is just not on.

Why not ? I just did my job that im paid to do. I obey orders but that dont mean for one minute i agree with it. We were led to believe that dialogue was taking place that would solve the situation. It was not until thatcher committed a war crime that anything happened.....Do you know that my captain on the bridge captain salt had just a 10 second warning that we were to be hit and us down below had nothing as we were at action stations at bikini Amber which means that we could change watches and i was drinking soup out of a mug for breakfast at my action station oblivious what was about to happen. so ask me why i hate thatcher and the tory government It's because of her many people were killed on both sides....we are responsible for the lives lost not Argentina...
