Liverpool will match Sunderland's £8million bid for Connor Wickham.

Anfield boss Kenny Dalglish has been monitoring Ipswich's young striker for the past six months, and he is ready to act in the face of opposition from the north east club.

Liverpool had previously bid £6million for Wickham, and also offered Ipswich the chance to take their young star Jonjo Shelvey on loan for next season.

Back to where we were 12 months ago. We can also offer players from our Youth System and/or loan him back to Ipswich ...all this was there in the rumoured deal last year. Either way - NAIL HIM!

Liverpool are getting worse than ARRY, being mentioned with every player available, my question though is ,,,, at what point in time do Liverpool run out of money?

Didn't he have a better season last but one?

He was injured for the start of last season, and we had Roy Keane as manager.

toward the end he started to perform at a better level, and also spent a lot of games on the win.

He is very strong in the air, it's hard to believe that he is only 18. He kinda reminds me of more of Teddy Sheringham than Shearer.

Looks like liverpool are in for him and Arsenal and Spours to follow. We will see

We should increase our offer and then let Liverpool match it. I think it is the least we can do to help Ipswich get a bit more for him after all they did help us by taking a few players off our hands.

Agreed completely - If we up our bid to £10m or £12m and liverpool decide to pull out then great - we get the chance to sign an excellent prospect - and if Liverpool match our bid then he goes on to them and we get Ipswich a bit more cash - nowt against the Tractor boys (as Keane is no longer there) so all good for me - few of our old boys down there too

Upto Quinn & Bruce to persuade the lad that Sunderland is best for him! Be tough mind as his heart looks set on Liverpool but if he uses his brain then Sunderland is a better prospect for him for the next 4 years or so then if he wants to move on then so be it.

Bruce has to push the short term benefits of joining Sunderland. If we did get him, then it's my guess that if the lad turns out to be as good as people say, then he would be here short term, 2 maybe 3 years before the bigger boys come along.

In that period of time though we can surely offer the him more 1st team action than Liverpool, hopefully enhancing his reputation/value and understanding of top flight football (obviously a benefit to both parties). We have to play smart with this possible signing, it's not just about how much we or Liverpool or anyone else is willing to bid.
