We've been linked with the Derby striker Connor Sammon:

    http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/24129/derby-striker-linked

Whilst he's never really set the world alight I think he is exactly the kind of striker we should be going for and someone who would be a perfect fit for McGoldrick. The problem with McGoldrick is that the style of football we play really means that we need a big guy playing next to him but in the main big guys don't play on the shoulder of the last defender looking to get in behind the defence, which means we lack either height/presence or an outlet to get in behind the defence. What I've seen of Sammon is he is able to do both, so could be perfect for McG. We need at least 1 more striker because our current crop aren't good enough but I'd imagine we'd look to ship one out if this were to go ahead!!

    ptc...

I wholeheartedly disagree with anything positive about us signing Connor Sammon...

The guy has a dreadful goalscoring record, he makes Priskin look positively prolific and his touch is (for the most part) absolutely dreadful. The ball flies off him in every which direction...

I will concede he is a trier and puts in a shift that may be seen as productive but his footballing ability is below that of Murphy and Nouble so I don't see why we would add an inferior player to our squad..

Also, every Derby fan I know would willingly pick him up and drive him down to us if this were true... which is enough to confirm to me that he certainly isn't worth persuing

Completely agree with you King_of_Portman_Rd, not for me thank you very much!

Fantastic workrate sure, but is he really the 30% better than Murphy that he would need to be ?

Then there would be a transfer fee/agent fee/ signing on fee plus wages. NO NO NO NO NO!

Is there a half decent footballer in Frank Nouble one wonders......

Got to agree with SD, no better than what we have here right now. most important thing is to tie Hunty down for longer.

To be fair Nouble has scored a couple of goals just lately and he made a big difference for us against Blackpool. <ok>

I don't know why but i actually like him, he is never going to be the best but he works hard and give defenders nightmares.

Do we really think Mick is going to poach him from Derby?

So long as he's not as bad as Mark Fish for us, I don't mind ;)

I agree he is a likable player even though sometimes he looks like he has never seen a football before he does seem to give his all and care about it....

Oh and he was close to MoTm on tuesday night IMO.

Hanging Hog ( one of Noubles best mates by the way ) reckons he should have got mom. He works hard and could do a good job for us if we stick by him.

looks like I'm on my own here then. Never really had a good record but there must be a decent player in there Roberto Martinez signed him and he doesn't just sign work horses. I just think he's the type of striker we need to partner McG and if he's a willing worker (which he seems to be) I'm sure Mick will get the best out of him.

One stat I saw today which surprised me was that we are apparently the 4th leading goalscorers in the division, how the hell is that?
