Ergh, I sure some of the Pompey fans that take things a lil too seriously will give him a good welcome. Anyways good luck Connolly.
This is a very good acquisition for Pompey if Connolly can stay fit. I always thought that he was a cultured and intelligent player whenever he played for Saints.
I doubt he can stay fit tho, look how bad he was when he was with us and I doubt he has got any better.
When he was fit for us you could always tell he was a class above pretty much everyone around him. Great footballing intelligence which you can't teach! Good luck to him because I'd rather see a player who served us well do well than our rivals do badly.
We've sent him in as a mole to further drain their wage budget, whilst parking himself firmly on the treatment table!
As others have said, if he stays injury free he should do well....although I do wonder if he may be too clever for the caliber of players Pompey have. A lot of his good work was due to the link up play between him, Lambert and in particular Lallana. He may just be a few steps ahead of the rest of the Pompey players, either way he is a very good player when fit and should do well in League 1. Having been without a club since he left us I can't imagine his fitness levels are good. But anyway, good luck to him.
Surely a two week contract would be more appropriate as they are most likely folding on the 15th? Good luck to Dave though, was quality for us, our escape from L1 would not have been as convincing without him.
So there's now two Connolly's at Hampshire's two best clubs: Farnborough and Portsmouth. Let's hope the second Connolly is as successful as the first Connolly.
Me too, although I did hear that he was paid quite well at Saints, so that might have been a hurdle to him finding another club... but then how does that fit with Pompey? Oh yes, of course, wages isn't a problem when you arn't bothering to pay your other debts.
The prospective owners of Portsborough wouldn't past the FA Fit and Proper Person's test, on the account of being too damn awesome. Although if they were to be used as the 'public face' for an undercover campaign to siphon money from the clubs accounts to various offshore accounts, then that would be fine of course.
