Congratulations to the Leicester Tigers on their Premiership Final win! Nine consecutive finals is immense and something City can aspire too! Congrats also to referee Wayne Barnes who was brave enough to show a player a red card for foul and abusive language. It bugs the hell out of me when players aim a volley of abuse at refs game after game and nothing is done about it, if refs were instructed to yellow card a player when they swear or criticise a decison it would soon stop because some of these yellows maybe a second, resulting in a sending off. The managers would soon clamp down on their players then. I know many of you here see Rugby as "Egg chasing" but as a former rugby player who is a staunce Leicester City fan i think Football could learn a lot from Rugby Union where the game can be so intense but still very respectful to officials.
Their success is built on a long history of producing their own players and integrating with quality signings. Something all football clubs should aspire to.
I don't like rugby either, but there is a good deal of respect for officials, which is good for the game. However, lets not pretend, like rugby fans like to, that football is this awful sport ful of cheats and prima donas. There is plenty of things in rugby that would get the attention of the minuscule incidents that football gets on the back pages. Blood cheats, gouging, sly punches etc. it's not as squeaky clean as rugby fans make out. Lets not forget in football referees are the only professionals in the sport that don't have to answer for their ineptitude and the only ones that are almost free from poor performances and inconsistency.
Fabulous achievement - a dynasty built on 'principle' ... the Tigers are an 'institution' and set the bar for where the football team need to aim - I'm always inspired by their success because Leicester is first and foremost a football city and can you imagine that crowds etc we would get with if we could anywhere near mirror their achievements? - big ask - but that has to remain our ultimate ambition.
Tell me about it! We'd have one of the world's finest domestic sides on our doorstep and the national side would have won the World Cup in our lifetime! Stupid football and it's competitiveness.
