Right.... Credit where credit is due! Those that were lucky enough to goto Bournemouth game totally sung their hearts out and made me think just what fantastic fans we have. I wonder over the season how many points that us, the 12th man, have helped us gain! Even when we were under pressure and 1-0 down, all i could hear was our boys singing their hearts out! Made me have a lil look at our support!

    SMALLEST LEAGUE GATE = 17,857
    MAX LEAGUE GATE = 26,289
    AVERAGE LEAGUE GATE = 21,802

21,802 in the 3rd tier is trully amazing! The nearest to us is Sheff Weds 3500 behind then Charlton 6000 behind!

Compared to the Championship, we would be 7th, probobly higher should we be in that league too!

Just to top it off - in comparison to our friendly neighbours and our REAL rivals - they are bringing an average of 15,935 - Pretty poor???? lol!

COYRs! Lets get behind the lads and push for the finish line! Well done all of you :):):)

Nashy - You got to commend those 'ladies' who were also singing their hearts off on Saturday too <whistle>

    * Sheff Wed. do have the largest capacity ground in League 1 so we should be please at our average gate!

    * Our "real" Rivals only pulling in 15,000 - wow ....shocking seen as thats Championship Football aswell ... I would have expected more tbh!

Our attendances have been fantastic this season and last season I can only imagine how many we could have taken to the jpt final if wembley stadium had allowed us!

In fairness, Leeds should be getting far bigger crowds than the 26 or 27,000 that we do for a club with our fanbase, even considering the extortionate ticket prices.

However the League One experience certainly seems to have galvanized the support of Leeds and (to a lesser extent because they basically give out free STs) Norwich. Strengthens the team's winning mentality too and teaches the players how to play against **** teams where you don't get a lot of time on the ball. If Southampton get promoted this season, I can see you taking the Championship with the same confidence Leeds, Norwich and Leicester have done.

    Heres to hoping!!!

Ive always felt the best fans amongst the country are Leeds and Newcastle! Its good to hear you think your should be attracting more even though you are the best supported team in the league! With the big clubs around Leeds, your fanbase is amazing!

I look forward to the days when we fill week in week out! Its only normal that attendances drop but it does irritate me slightly!

I too think dropping to league one and having a win most weeks and some success has galvanized our fans too as well as the playing and coaching staff! A step up to Championship (fingers crossed) would be a real challenge, but we play better against footballing teams, as opposed to **** teams as you put it!

And their floodlights failed against Leeds earlier in the season. Twice. In the eightieth minute onwards. When we looked like winning the game. At best they're incompetent, at worst they're corrupt. Had more owners than John Anthony PFC Westwood has had tattoos.

    Hahaha yeah right!

It was a small, minor, teeny weeny comment from an otherwise complimentary article about our fan base. No comment about there tin shed or facilities or financial issues at all. I was merely stating our fans are top notch ;)

Hate to bang on about Portsmouth but their "break even" attendance including CVA payments is around 14,000, as reported by Sky Sports. Their supporters were shouting for signings in January to improve their tiny squad but it would take some extremely blue tinted specs (which I don't own) to see much investment in the near future for them.

There are many factors behind their poor attendances as there was behind ours - but they cant deny it is disappointing. But im not one to hark on about those lot down the road! There squad have picked up but they are very very lacking in back up should they pick up injuries or fatigue. I look forward to playing them next year!!!! Then we can hopefully gain revenge and improve our already comprehensive head to head record against them!

Speaking of floodlights I have to bring up that old game in the 1950's where the Dells' floodlights failed and the game was heavily delayed...and eventually we won 4.3 (Derek Reeves with all four goals?...). Please correct me for any factual innaccuracy and give the year too, my good old Hagiology books have not been taken down from the shelves recently enough, I am getting rusty...
And ditto to others on here, I wish Leeds all the best, and I do not subscribe to the feeling of 'dislike' that some feel towards Leeds (though that may be because I did not witness the violence of the 80's and the aggression of Bremner and Revie!) Also well done on your support, that video you put on my thread earlier shows that you must be amongst the country's best!

Saints fans have done fantastically away from home this season as usual. Our home gates are higher than many would have suspected being in the third tier but in relation to Pompey I will say one thing.

Under the current regulations they have a much smaller capacity than us, but still manage to make a lot of noise.

They are indeed one of the very fe clubs that have retained an atmosphere from the days of terracing. St Marys was not particularly loud the past two games (ANYONE in League One will occasionally have a quiet atmosphere), and according to the oldies and my good ol' Grandad the Dell was different class for noise, but St Marys actually can get going, despite the assertions of fans of other clubs of it being "souless", despite them having never visited. Look at the Leeds game and the semi final of the trophy last year; the ground was absolutely rocking, far more impressive than all but the best Premier League supporters. It does not help that the Itchen corner is not open/enough people to fill it, as that really does increase the atmosphere. Also, expand the Northam is what I say! We have (roughly) 2,500-3000 of our fans in it, whilst the Fratton End must be around 5000 Pompey fans at least. Lets raise the roof like former days against Wednesday, but yes, away support is exceptional, consistently beating home supports throughout the league (yes it is the third tier, does not mean there are not some good old traditional English cauldron atmospheres).

Full stadium equals a good atmosphere. It's as simple as that. It's difficult to get a good atmosphere going with gaps between the groups of fans. Please let's not go on and on about the "blue few". It really doesn't need to be repeated about their poor attendances. Let's stay positive and celebrate the fantastic support we enjoy, rather than mocking the afflicted. :)

The aim of the post was not to embarrass those down the road, but to highlight the fantastic support we have gained in this league so far this season!

I agree that when the corners are open it loses atmosphere but i understand why they have done it

One thing i think would help is opening block 43 to fans next season. HOWEVER.... I was appauled at the Northam fans gloating and giving the fans a hard time in Block 43 and treating them like they are not genuine fans. I too sit in the Northam and was not impressed! Many fans may have chose to sit there as it was open when other games they have no choice to sit anywhere else! The waving of season tickets etc was pathetic! The average attendance we have gained this season is credit to each and every fan.... even those who have been just once in my opinion!
