Well done to Kamel and Stade De Reims, tonight they confirmed their promotion to French Lique 1 by beating the bottom club SC Amiens 2-0. Reims are in 2nd place in the league and need 1 more point in their last match to clinch the runners-up spot. Oh, and Kamel scored the 2nd goal tonight.
14 goals and 3 assists from 34 games (33 starts). Good, but not stunning. Ligue 2 is generally a tidy footballing division, but physically it's well short of the Championship.
Still scratching my head over this hero status he's got with some City fans. He was a headless chicken that had one decent game and scored one goal. And let's not forget he fluffed numerous chances. Whereas, Fryatt gets whinged at despite scoring 16 goals, our best goal scoring record i've seen in ages, whilst living off scraps for the whole season.
Don't think he ever had 'hero' status, it was just that 1 game V Bolton when he & Jozy looked good & no-one could figure out why they weren't used more when that looked so good. As it stands now, everyone wants rid of him.
I thought Ghilas looked good whenever he played in the PL. At the time he looked like a skillful ***an. However since then 3 successive managers have not had him anywhere near the team so I think it's probably right to accept they know something we don't.
If anything it sounds like a mixture of his wages and the fact that he simply doesn't want to be here. It may have nothing to do with his ability.
true. he was never given a run in the team. Altidore & Ghilas could have worked and Brown never saw it. So he felt unwanted. Will be interesting to see how he performs again in Ligue 1. He was with a poor team in Arles Avignon last season.
How's Fryatt been living off scraps? There was a long period where game after game we'd have countless chances that he'd put wide or straight to the keeper every time. Not having a dig by any means, he's by far the best striker we've got, but to say he's better than Ghilas because he's scored 16 goals off scraps isn't really true.
