Right, call me daft but i'm having a little bit of trouble navigating this site. On the old, and soon to be defunct bbc 606 site, each article is posted and drops further down the list with each new article posted. This is where i'm confused about this site. Each day i go on, i see the same articles bumped back to the top of the list because someone has recently posted on it. This makes it far more difficult to find the new articles to read. They're kind of scattered everywhere. New articles can, in effect, be 5 or 10 below an article written last month.

Is there a way of personalising the list so that the divide between top and bottom is based on date rather than popularity?

I prefer it this way as an article doesn't get forgotten about straight away, there are not enough posts for the new ones to dissapear straight away unless you go on the Newcastle site but they have a navigation thread.

Still doesn't work. There's no order to the posts. I bet by me replying to this a day later will bump the article back up to the top. Very strange way of doing things. It seems popular though so i'm clearly missing something. One thing that's struck me on here is that there doesn't seem to be too many new articles anyway. Most people just post in old stale articles which i find a bit nonsensical. This is gonna take some getting used to... if not606 wins the custody battle of the original 606 members.

I agree with the OP, this setup could cost not606 bigtime especially as ja606 is a clone of 606 and seems to be very popular already.

Although like you say you can adjust the settings to show articles by created time but it still has the same articles from january at the top.

It's a matter of opinion but the 606 format means that every new article always appear at the top whatever their merit or interest. Sometimes you just end up with WUM articles especially after a Spurs defeat.

On not606 articles that are of interest to the most members stay at the top encouraging an ongoing debate based on the interest to those taking part. That IMO is a far better way of doing things. IMO the immediate interest in the new site that mimics 606 shows a clear lack of imagination by the 606ers supporting it.

I will be supporting not606 because I know who runs it and he is available, moderation is carried out by Fans of the club concerned and they are also available. The ony downside to this site for me is that it does not have a place for article that is as neat as 606 but the info is there if you look for it.

All this is why I chose not606 to run my league on and I have seen no reason to change my mind on that. <ok>

I understand the idea that popularity should play a part in the hierarchy of articles but the problem is that whenever you see really long articles on the original 606 site they always drift from the original point anyway. In general if an article has more than roughly 3 pages of responses, distractions occur and WUM like chit chat will ensue. So in that sense, it loses it's intention anyway. I just think it's cleaner to know which articles are new and which are old. Under this system, we'll never have that. From where i'm standing it looks like there aren't any real new articles at all. In fact looking at the spurs page, there isn't one from today. Just old one's rehashed and replied to. I guess it's something i'll have to get used to.

Site layout questions should usually be directed to Maltese Mick

You can see the date the article was posted underneath it, if that's any help

The best way for new articles is of course to create your own, even if it's a short one about a minor issue
