http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...ughes-hopes-to-keep-qpr-stars-82029-30789668/ Hughes hopes to keep QPR stars MARK Hughes is confident QPR can keep hold of their top stars â even if they are relegated to the Championship. Rangers are just two points clear of the drop zone with four matches left to play, although rivals Bolton have two games in hand. Adel Taarabt has recently been linked with a move away from Loftus Road, while Bobby Zamora is also a wanted man. But boss Hughes hopes the club can retain the key members of his squad even if they go down. He told the Chronicle: âOur intention is to keep everyone together because our view is we're going to stay in the Premier League so we need quality players here. âThere will be different plans if the worst happens but we're not thinking in those terms at the moment. âI said when I came here I'm looking for longevity in my job here and that hasn't changed. âThere's no relegation escape clauses for the players so it's not a concern for me.â So were going to keep the players, even if we go down to the Championship, but were 'not thinking in those terms at the moment', (the article begs to differ) and our 'view is that were going to stay in the Premier League? Who knows what they think!? On another note, who do you think will leave, or it might be easier to ask, who do you think will stay IF (were still Premier League) we go down?
Well there are a few loanees who'd probably shoot off to avoid the drop... Hope not, but I'm told no loyalty in the modern player.
I am rather concerned at the number of official "Relegation isn't the end of the world" articles appearing from all quarters. Beard says the investment will not stop. Hughes says he will keep hold of the top players. TF says ...... ...... ..... etc, etc, etc I know that they want to reassure supporters that relegation won't prompt a catastropic chain reaction similar to what has happened to us before (and other teams more recently) but there is so much coming out at the moment it does look as if they are resigned to the fact. It is almost as if they are saying to the players that it doesn't matter. "Don't concern yourself if we go down, everything will be fine. You still have a job and will be paid (your over the top wages), etc"
Definitely off will be Diakite, Cisse and Taiwo. Staying will be SWP and Barton on their lucrative contracts.
To be fair, the amount of dead wood contracts that come to an end at the end of this season will probably be enough to subsidise keeping the majority of the squad in tact (Unfortunately not including the loanees) and make a real push on with a solid 20 odd players next season.
I think somewhere Cisse said he wouldn't be leaving, but am I just being gullible when I believe him? All in all however, we should hopefully, have at least a top 6 Championship side....
Most gutting departure for me would be diakite. It would be like, "and this is what you could have won!"
We should grab both those players as they are both very happy here ... I feel that they sense the potential .. once we are confirmed either way then the world can change. I am now convinced we will win whatever happens. we were a forgotten club we are not now ... its all going forward as a club ... we will all see this through regardless
If we go down Zamora would be off and i'm pretty sure that Adel would be too.The biggest worry of all would be what happens when a big club comes in with an offer for Faurlin!
If we go down I think Cisse, Zamora and Taarabt will leave. Also the loanees Taiwo and Diakite. Taiwo and Zamora don't bother me too much, but the others do!!
Even without them your squad with a few tweaks up front would still easily be top 6 material in the Championship at worst, if you went down I'm sure you wouldn't be down there long, it's not over yet though, plenty more twists and turns, you could really do with Villa beating or at least drawing to Bolton though
what do you mean? My comment was a response to rangercol, I should have replied to his comment and made that clear. Apologies.
