I notice that some of you are in the group 'Fulham supporters', started by DR. What's that all about? Can anyone join and how do you do it? What do groups achieve on this side?

The whole points/levels/reputation thing is a bit bewildering, to be honest. I don't get how most of it works or what the point of it is. Can anyone explain to a middle-aged neo-luddite? Thanks.

    Good question.

I used to belong to a site that gave points for posts depending on how long the post was - the idea was that the points could be "spent" on stuff - don't know what, they never got that bit of the site working apart from a weekly lottery which, if you won, gave you more bloody useless points. You could also donate some of your points to those with less if you were feeling charitable.

The level thing was also replicated but in a slightly different form - you started as a newbie then went to Bronze, Silver, Gold, White Gold, etc - I think that was just a ploy to get you posting - if you are competitive you want to climb the ladder.

Don't know what this reputation thing is - would be quite fun if it somehow worked out how useful your posts in general were so if you were a WUM your reputation could work out to be "right knobhead".

What I find confusing is the fact that the forum isn't in chronological oder!

As I said before, for me, the set out is a bit like a list, which may encourage statements rather than discussion.

While we're on the topic of pointless points, isn't there something on the FFC website like that? I seem to remember seeing it but not having a clue what they were, how you redeemed them and what for. But then again, I'm knocking on a bit and may be tripping over my beard once more.

I quite like the way it shuffled the order of posts about, so you can always see which ones have been most recently added to. Rocky, what's the score on this groups thing - I notice that you are one of the members. What's that all about?

Captain, totally agree about the way the articles get shifted about. Makes it easier to follow the discussions. I have to admit to wondering why all these achievement icons and points are put on these sights. For me it all about having some good chat about the team we all love. Unlike most sites there is a really good mixture of opinions and not too many idiots talking s**t from other teams.

Commodore the only groups I've joined I think I've been invited to and said yes. I'll have a look at my home page and go figure, as DR might say.

Try going to your home group & pressing 'join groups'. Failing that, ask DR to invite you. It's all a mystery to me too!

Press Groups at the top of the page (between 'Albums' and 'Blogs'). Then search for 'Fulham' in the group search bar. Click on the group 'Fulham supporters'. Top right, press group tools. Join group.

Did you follow any of that? :p

Not sure what benefit you get from being in that group though. Just showing up our more venerable contributors!

Thanks all. I've joined the Fulham supporters group now. As Surlyc says, I'm not sure what difference it makes.

The thing that irritates me about the points for posts thing, is the people who support other clubs and constantly join in debates just to say, 'Yeah, so-and-so is a great player. Good to see him doing well', when you know the only reason they are bothering is to bump up their total. I miss the friendly interaction with fans from other clubs from the old 606, but this is people who aren't really interested in what we're talking about joining in just for the sake of scrambling a few more points.
