Reports on him from academy writers and City fans is that he's quite physical and combative for his age (19) and almost 6ft 3in, but has the technical level you come to expect from MCFC players. Almost at 10 senior caps for Northern Ireland already, has been on the bench in the UCL and PL and Guardiola put him on at the back end of last season to get some minutes, so was obviously well-regarded and they were trying to placate him to stay. Lavia replacement?
Shea Charles feels like the significantly more dynamic alter ego of Charles Shea, a mid-level manager at a regional bank who collects stamps. I'm happy to keep the Lavia conveyor belt going.
Dortmund were apparently keen to sign Shea as their Bellingham replacement this summer. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...ning-bid-Man-City-youngster-Shea-Charles.html Also, he can play at CB and RB.
I'm getting Harry Enfield vibes... "Charles... Charly... Charles... back to Charly... Charles again... I say... this is football fit for a king".
Sounds exciting and looks like our relationship with City is un-dented. They’re going to make circa £20m from Lavia after playing barely a minute for them and without any significant cost to their wage bill
shame we can’t bring a former right back out of retirement. Shea…Butterfield. Have to agree the Charles, Charly, Che axis is one to look forward to
Hopefully another Lavia. Although I do hope we have learned our lesson from last summer and bring in a mix of players with experience of mens football rather than just youth. Not so concerned with age, but do think playing experience is important.
The older players we bought were mostly all sh*t. It was only the younger ones that turned out to be decent. The experience needs to come from keeping players at the club longer rather than having an overhaul every summer.
Agree that we need to keep players, but that will be tricky with JWP & KWP likely going for obvious reasons. Tbf we only bought 2 senior players but yeah, they were both crap! I just feel the money (£30m+) we spent on Bazunu, Edozie, Mara and Larios was with the future in mind, but we could have brought in one top player for that money who could have contributed last season.
Only two? We brought in six senior players; Aribo, Caleta-Car, Orsic, Onuachu, Bree and Maitland-Niles. The problem was letting go of Bednarek, Romeu, Redmond, Stephens etc
AMN was a loan so didnt have much of an impact on transfer fees and Orsic, Onuachu and Bree were all in January.
