Think someone said it already, let's give the guy a chance before we Diss him.. We have no idea what went on at spurs, and saints may be the perfect fit. I for one hope he does brilliantly and think this is a sensible signing in January.
I would suggest Ralph is confident there is a player he can improve there, I would not be surprised to see us sign him permanently in the summer as his age, pace and ability to play either side are real positives. Reading on Wikipedia, he got the sky man of the match on his full Premier league debut so he must have a decent amount of ability. Pochetino was happy to give him some game time and offer him new contracts and I would trust him to know a good youngster more than Moanrinho. Let's get this one over the line, would be good to see Berty on the left and KWP on the right both bombing forward at every opportunity!
I'll be pleased to get this over the line. The kid looks raw, but some good potential. Fast, not scared to take it past players, he's got some good attributes. Sounds like a couple lazy clubs have tried last min gazumps as well, be nice to leave them still searching on the 28th January. Get it done Saints.
I think he's a decent player for our level and it's great that he can play both sides. I'm hesitant that he can improve that much though. Pochettino has been The Fullback Whisperer during his time at Spurs and Saints. He's had elite instruction but wasn't able to get a regular starting or 2nd string berth.
Would make perfect sense to shift Cedric now with additional cover coming in rather than let him walk in the summer
I'm always okay with taking players on loan mid-season. You end up with a shortage at a position, and there's no reason to pay exorbitant prices for a transfer. Walker-Peters maybe just needs a change of scenery. Or maybe he sucks. But if he sucks, then we don't play him and at the end of the season he's not our problem anymore. If he's great, then at a minimum he gives us a good half season at a cheap price.
I'd always rather have an option to buy included when it comes to loans, mainly to remove any risk of the purchase price being jacked up in the event that the loan goes well. But hey, we are where we are. He's looked alright from what I've seen of him, so I'll be pleased once it's confirmed. That said, highlights are rarely sufficient enough to judge a FB's defensive game.
So think of this as a loan with an option to buy for 100m. If the loan goes well, Tottenham will definitely sell him to us for that amount. That's a better guarantee than the "option to buy" we had for Alderweireld.
We’re in the same position we’re currently in if we sell Cedric but bring in KWP. Except we know what we’re going to get with Cedric. KWP is more of a risk to throw straight in as our only RB. Valery has been nowhere to be seen for some time, so no reason to suspect he’ll be back anytime soon. This deal only makes sense to me if it’s in addition to Cedric not to replace him.
Only logical thing I can think of if this a loan with no future fee is that we are selling Cedric this window. If that is the case then it is a bit of a risk with KWP as he hasn’t played much/at all for the last couple of years but would indicate to me that we are thinking we won’t go down so will take whatever we can get for Cedric now instead of nothing in the summer, then address RB in the summer with a new signing
To my knowledge we have not bought a player from Spurs ever who has been any ****ing good and I don't think we will break that habit now with this signing.
Indeed. To me this signing says 1 of 2 things: 1. We are going to sell Cedric this window. Or 2. Valery is definitely not going to be back this season, or at least a few months.
My spurs itk mate says he is quick and somewhat underated. But will never get a chance under mourwankington.
