Despite missing out on grey I'm really confident of our chances this season. We have a manager who seems to have worked out what it takes to get out of the league (shame he lacks the tactical nous needed for a lower/mid prem side imo) .Seems to me that its a case of resilience, and setting up not to get beat and we will score somehow. Wether its goals from our strikers or somewhere else on the pitch, in most games we will find the net as we did the last time we got promoted. We have, arguably a better defence than last time so its a good foundation to work on. ` Midfield is a little shaky but again Im not worried providing we hold on to Diame which I hope is likely due to his injury. And huddlestone, as much stick as he gets here is still a good player that offers a lot more than passing and shooting which granted hasn't been to the standard we know he's capable. Add to that Snodgrass who I think will be able to play at the standard he once did (my concern is the injury reoccurring), and we have a player who has proven to be fantastic in the championship and very good in the prem. If the Maloney deal is confirmed than I think he will be a real handful for Championship defences. On a slightly negative note. If we do hang on to the players, and we have a good 6 months, I presume the buyout clauses still exist? I really don't want to have to have a similar situation at christmas. Whatever happens, it's sure to be an exciting season!
I'm confidant we'll have a good season, although a little concerned that we don't have much control over what happens regarding players staying until the window shuts. I'm hoping that there are targets in place & groundwork done for to get replacements in if we lose key players at the last minute. If we keep hold of what we've got then I'm confident Bruce can enthuse & motivate the disheartened & lead us back up.
That's a good point on the January window, we may have to change the team again. All the more reason to have done our main transfer business in this window. I don't think Huddlestone really lasts a full match and Bruce leaves him on the field too long which is very dangerous for us.
It'd be brilliant to win the title. When did we last win a league - early 80s? It always seems to be just getting promoted.
I am a glory-hunting plastic - I started supporting City seriously after that Third Division title win. It would be great to get another league title win before I die.
Before 65/66 only 2 other occasions, 48/49 and 32/33. Most impressive of the 3 times we have won a league title was the 32/33 season when we were unbeaten at home for the only time in our history.
