Despite Lewis and Jenson saying that downforce is the only worry for the Mclaren I still think they can go on to win both titles this year. This is a problem that they can easily make better . It apparently is also very comfortable to drive according to lewis and im sure if the car has the pace of ferrari and red bull and sort out its reliability then lewis and jenson can push it to its limit. I would also like to point out that Brawn I think only tested once 2 years ago and look where they ended up. Still loads of optimism from me.

It was those same comments that make me confident that they will struggle this year. If they were just a little off the pace the drivers wouldn't be making these comments. But then they don't have as many problems as they did in 2009, and if there's one thing McLaren do well it's development. I guess you have every reason to remain optimistic - Hamilton and Button are a very strong driver line up.
You are very optimistic, I think that they'll get better throughout the season, but I don't think (at the moment anyway) that they'll be title contenders. Its good theey have a couple of quite good drivers, but Ferrari all the way!!!
Yes I am very optimistic as I feel if Mclaren fix their downforce problem maybe not jenson but Lewis will get every bit of performance from the car.
May be a bit of a hard slog for the first few races, but they always catch the others up. They have two good and varied drivers so they should be right up there at the end of the season.
It's very disappointing that they are talking this way already. McLaren are good development wise but so are Ferrari and Red Bull.
If Ferraris come back last season proved anything it's that a driver who is out of contention during the first half of the season can, with the development by the tam, be within reach of taking the title. McLaren greatly improved their car in 2009 and 2010, and look at how the Brawn was caught from mid season onwards in 2009. The McLaren has potential and the team have skill, that's why I have a feeling that they may come good a few races into the season.
