You dont feel confident when we play away? We have not lost an away league game since Oct 23rd 2012 and have not let in a goal in the last 4 away games, thats a decent away record. So not sure what you mean when you say 'theres something wrong'.

It feels like there's almost an expectancy for us to mess up, like the world will stop turning if we don't. People are looking for the negatives in everything they can.

Is it because we can't accept that there is the possibility that we'll do well?

Seems we have the attitude of "expect the worst rather than hope for the best" that way it won't hurt as much if it does go badly.

Confidence is good with me. Just nervous that we might only just crawl over that auto line, we have to remember we have been undone by goal difference or the one point in the past. Wouldn't it be nice to keep things simple for a change but I suppose that would not be the Gillingham way. As for being Champions that will probably go to the wire and a bit of a long shot at this stage, being Champions is certainly not the Gills way. So yes there is an expectancy for us to mess up, so I shall just have to keep monitoring that blood pressure in the meantime.

I'm struggling to find something constructive to say to this rather bizarre post. If you think we lack confidence this season did you see our away form last season????

I don't see it as a bizarre post, simply a fan who is worried by our extended dip in form.
Home form has been dismal of late and away form not convincing, yes we beat Bradford and drew with York but were far from comfortable in either game. York (bottom end of the table) in their last 4 games have earned a grand total of 2 points, both from us home and away, Wycombe beat them 4 - 0, Morcambe beat them 4 - 1 in the other recent games.
Yes we are still 2nd in the table (no longer with games in hand) but 3 of our rivals all had convincing wins away last night closing the gap still further.
The original poster isn't suggesting doom and gloom just realism, something is not right and needs addressing whilst there is still time, we had a large buffer between us and the chasing pack, one has already overtaken us and the others catching us fast.

    Bizarre I don't think so!

A dip so bad that our manager has been short listed for manager of the month.

After the dire football of the last three months, it seems to me that there are two groupings amongst supporters. First of all there are the supporters who do not go and watch but are enthusiastic fans who track the score, listen to the radio, follow on teletext or whatever. This group are loving it and with some validity can say just look at the league table. Then there are the supporters who go and watch, 90% of whom only see home games, and who range from those with minor misgivings at the entertainment on offer to those who are outraged at the quality on display and the short term approach being adopted. Even those in the latter category have to acknowledge that MA has perfected the art of smash and grab and that he will be able to move on with an enhanced track record with promotion looking in the bag.
The last entertaining game at home was Exeter (which Gills lost but there was excitement and good football) and the last good winning performance at home was Scunthorpe on 3 Nov, a distant memory. But who cares say the stay away supporters, life is great when your team is top (or nearly top). This is a real dilemma because the common sense thing to do is to stay away from matches and be happy because Gills are top. On the other hand if fans stop going, the club becomes just as unsustainable financially as it will be with no young players to sell.

Sorry fellow gills fans but started this thread after a night in the pub and was feeling a little dissapointed with the 0-0 result against one of the poorer sides in div 2 .My last night out to the pub was to watch the gills v wycombe game on the box (not enjoyable) and maybe im becoming a little pessimistic in my old age.In my drunken state i wasnt trying to fault our away form which, result wise,is good but to admit my confidence has took a bit of a dive of late.If im honest I do feel it has become a case of hang on in there and hope the others drop points rather than the feeling that im watching the champions of div 2.Obviously if we can start winning at Priestfield things will start to look a bit brighter but until then i will remain in my nervous state

The best thing for a nervous state is to back to the pub!

i was actually just thinking the same myself earlier. although maybe you should replace" do not go" with "do not go as often" ( i would happily but a season ticket if someone would sponsor my flights!). but yes there does seem to be that split. it seems to be those who go to all the games that are alarmed about our performances and obviously these are the people with regular first hand experience so a very valid point.

Although, if i may play devil's advocate for a moment, a counter argument could be that not being so close enables a more circumspect viewpoint. sometimes being further away allows you to look at the bigger pitcher. Also for those are just going to home games but not away games - they will be have a distorted view by missing out on our better results and seeing all our of poorer ones.

That said the 3 games ive been over to see we decent enough( Aldershot, cheltenham and Vale) but if id been going going everyweek i am sure my viewpoint would be different, but that said, not necessarily right.

There is no way you can say that we have been playing well at home since mid November. If we had been doing as well at home as away we would be 10 points infront. I have been really concered by this form but we are still second and if we can start winning at home we should stay in the top 2. Also when we have lost we have only lost by 1 goal which shows we are a tough team to beat.
