As you already know, 2 conference sides get promoted. Top obviously get promoted and 2nd to 5th compete in the lottery of the play offs. In the last 5 seasons: 09/10: 2nd place ended on 88 points so 89 points was enough to be champions. 10/11: 2nd place ended on 90 points so 91 points was enough to be champions. 11/12: 2nd place ended on 98 points so 99 points was enough to be champions. 12/13: 2nd place ended on 93 points so 94 points was enough to be champions. 13/14: 2nd place ended on 82 points so 83 points was enough to be champions. In the last 5 seasons its very worrying how many points is needed to be champions. It is also very worrying how many points in this last 5 years that 2nd place got (example Wrexham got 98 points in 11/12 season) and still failed to get promoted. I read somewhere that if you win all home games (69 points) and draw all away games (23 points) = 92 points, which may not be enough to win the league! Therefore we need a fantastic start to the season which will give us momentum and confidence. We need to get new players in ASAP so no waiting around chasing the same player all summer until the end of August! They all need to gel and produce the goods straight away. To get the last play off place (5th) in the last 5 seasons, 78 to 82 points was needed! 4 teams get relegated. 51 points seems to be enough to stay up! Another worry stat is how many teams in the last 5 seasons have picked up points deductions. I have only gone back 5 seasons as too scared to check anymore! Some got 10 points deducted! I have read on the conference forum that conference rules are very strict and they give a lot of points deductions for punishment over small things. 09/10: 3 teams got points deducted. 10/11: 4 teams got points deducted. 11/12: 2 teams got points deducted. 12/13: 0 teams. 13/14: 2 teams got points deducted. Hopefully Clarke remembers what these rule are! Points deductions is all we need
yep. that season fleetwood won the league and they got 103 points! mansfield came 3rd and got 89 points! mansfield didnt even get promoted either that season.
72 points in 2006/07 season. we were on 69 points before we went to hartlepool and lamberts winner in the 86th minute got us into the play offs and on 72 points and of course ended up winning the play offs
