Just thought id post a thread to group together our biggest concerns after Pearsons sacking. The main things for me are Spirit/Desire - Think its pretty obvious that the players had real belief in themselves and the team ethic. I worry that with a new manager, this may bring a certain level of uncertainty to the players. Tactics/Formation - Pearson was not the master tactician by any means but he'd stumbled on the best tactic that got the best out of many of our players, its no coincidence that our run of form coincided with this fairly new formation after Huth came in. My concern is that the new manager has his style and thats what our players will haveto deal with. Momentum - a mixture of above reasons may lead to any kind of good feelings around the place to be sapped from the players. Im sure under Pearson we would have kicked on from where we left off last year. Cambiasso - Knew Pearson let him play with freedom and really manage the team from CM. This move may have thown up uncertainty about whether he will continue with us if he fears that there will be big changes. I am glad to hear the club are still negotiating with him though even without a manager. Its all ifs and buts, but cant help but think these factors will be ones that will cost us a few positions in next years campaign. Anything you guys have worries about?
It will take a few more days for this to truely sink in but once a new man is appointed its a case of being grateful for all Nigel's work and moving on
Exactly. It's very raw right now. Once the season gets under way and fingers crossed we can get a couple of wins in the first few games, then everything in the garden will be rosy again.
If we´re having a hard time at the start of the season & we´re near or in the bottom 3 then the Q will be asked "Would we of been doing better if NP was still manager ?"
If we had gone down chances are Pearson wouldn't be with us. It would also not have been a surprise that after last season some mid table Premier team may have tempted him away some time soon. So now is not a bad time to be looking for another manager I reckon. Players are used to Managers coming and going just like every season players come and go. I am a Pearson fan but I can almost believe it was the players that led us on that magic run rather than his tactical nous so I'm sure the club will make a sound appointment and then onwards and upwards, still going to be a great season and I'm excited about who may come in and how we will go. Probably the biggest disappointment will be if Shakespeare and Walsh move on.
Think it was the same at Hull until they were bought out by Top and Vichai weeks after Pearson had re-signed with us. Though it would be interesting if Pearson got a new job and they stayed with us ... please log in to view this image
Different circumstances at Hull though - he left, and probably let them know they would be joining him. So why are they still there? Three possibilities a) they are good people and want to hand over to someone else b) they are keeping NP informed while still earning a dollar or c) they know a lot more of what has occurred and want to stay. May be a mixture of course.
