on our very small squad, must be one of the divisions smallest !

with just 3 strikers, MS going back in a couple of games, an injury..( we still have wilbs not 100%fit ) will leave us with 1 plus Freeman?

MS goes so we have "JET" to fill in or play Wilbs and Aggers ? v Walsall at Wembley 2 strikers?

I don't think he is available is he? I thought he had to go back to Fulham and that was it.

we're in the same boat as we were before Smith arrived and we were fine then! As Glenn says, we can bring someone in on loan if we have to.

I think poor old JGF has lived through too many of the bad times, the collapses, the relegations, the heartbreaks, to be able to see that maybe, just maybe, we have something truly wonderful going on at the moment. A manager that is in touch with the fans, the board and has the dressing room in his thrall. I also keep expecting the worst, but this manager and set of players consistently deliver. I am loving it - can't wait for Saturday now.

I can see us getting someone in on loan when Smith goes back. Bit pointless at the moment as they will only be cover to Smith, Agard Jet and Wilbraham so doubtful any one would be interested in coming in this or next week.

We still have the option to recall Wes Burns so as others say we ain't really any worse of than before Smith joined. At that time Jet was a bit part not looking interested but now up and firing so you could really say we are even in a better position.

But one thing I've seen in Cotterill is he keeps his cards close to his chest, none of us even knew Agard and Wilbraham was fit again until they was picked to play. So if he does have players lined up we won't know till they sign probably.

The small squad size is filled with talent that would grace any other squad in the division. The talent x small squad size are related.

City have had squads of 30+ stuffed with mediocre and worse.

Save the wages, run lean and mean and spend the cash on Freemans. Working well .. Long before time as well.

    JGF isn't the only one.
I forecast on here in July that we would win the title. I still believe we will but at matches, I am driving those around me bonkers because I'm picking on the mistakes.
I fully understand the need to play keepball, conserve energy when we are leading and not to dive in recklessly which can get yellow/red cards and injuries.

But I get very up tight by a few things. Like the fact that in the last two home games, we had 23 attempts at goal but only 1 v Sheffield and 3 v Peterborough that were on target. We must be more clinical and work the keeper a lot more.
Next is our lack of shots from just outside of the box when openings are clearly there. By not pressing our advantage with goals, we appear content to defend one or two goal leads; this is a dangerous game plan.
And finally, there are those occasions when the midfield play tip, tap intricate passes in our half of the pitch with three or more opponents around ready to nick the ball. No we haven't been punished yet, but as the season end gets nearer, so many teams will be scrapping harder for points to go up or stay up. I do not want to see us "gifting" opponents that we should be beating with comfort.

I suppose I am like a batsman in the "Nervous Nineties".

well we had 2 strikers out whilst he was here if he hdnt been !
there is faith blind faith and realism
    I am in the latter...
as long as we keep on winning, agree, but know realistically we wont
as Shinys comment above.. had we not had smith what then! try someone on the spur of the moment!
etc, etc SC is like all managers not the finished article, none ever are even Shankly or Fergie
when you look in the mirror you see now, not tomorrow
SC IS DOING QUITE FINE...at the mo

This is a better team and squad than Johnsons, Wards or Jordans. They will pull away and be Champions.

After Sat, and its not just 1 game 1 loss its 7 points from 15 and 2 hard games coming up, can such a small squad cope...have we got one part right only to see it blow up in our faces

    viz

small squad = finances getting sorted
small squad = unable to last the journey!
SMALL SQUAD gets promoted............. wont survive without major restructuring and additions

Also Matty and JET worked we will now have Agard Wilbers and .......

The pint glass has half a pint in it. It's your choice if it's half full or half empty.

JGF I get the impression that you want us to fail, so you can say told you so. Are you secretly a gas head?

I recall on another thread our JGF2 saying that with just 2 points per game we would go up as Champions. I appreciate we are half a point shy of our required target, but there is no need to be a downer of what we are doing. We were the width of the post away from a 3-3 yesterday. We are a good team, and squad.

We don't do ourselves any favours conceding 3 goals in 25 minutes.
