St Leger Meeting. Having missed the first day I won’t be running a competition for the rest of this meeting. Fortunately Bluesky was on the ball and is kindly covering this meeting. There seems little point in running two very similar competitions. If there is enough interest I can run the Betting Bank Competition for the televised races. Changed mind - will be running after all Future competitions. I’m thinking of combining the Betting Bank and Other Competitions to cut down on the amount of duplication you have to endure. To do this I would simplify the Other Competition along the lines of Bluesky’s competition (ie just one horse in each race). If it is preferable I can extend the races covered to all races at the main meeting plus all other races on terrestrial TV on the same day. This would cover the situation where (like today) the first day of the meeting is not televised. Taking today’s racing at Doncaster as an example, the way I would combine them would be something like this: 2:00 Ghostwriting - £100ew 5/1 2:35 Eureka £100ew SP 3:10 Medicean Man (NAP) £200win SP 3:45 Invincible Hero 4:20 Zeitoper 4:50 Louis The Pious 5:20 Fol Hollow From this I would score as follows (just using the first selection as example): Ghostwriting. Competition 1. 30 points Competition 2. 4.5ponts level stake profit (£1 in on winner at 9/2 SP) Competition 3. 34.5 points (total of points +LSP) Competition 4. Return of £825 Basically Competitions 1,2 and 3 are the Other Competition and Competition 4 is the Betting Bank Competition. If anyone has any views, for or against this suggestion, please add comments below. Thanks Ron
Ummm... I like them comps the way they are, dont know if thats just because I dont like change lol. But seriously I like them the way they are it splits them up and you get some people who prefer the one comp to the other! so people can take thier pick or like me and do both!! Im bit sad you missed the comp this week ron, and I was too late for blueskys as I was out the office all day today!!
There is another disadvantage that's just occurred to me. Maybe the betting with £1,000 requires a bit more thought and it may not be convenient to enter both at the same time. See what others have to say.
I don't mind running it in the usual format - it's no trouble. I just thought it might be a bit much having effectively 3 competitions, given that, when surveyed, the consensus seemed to be "not too many".
It's a shame to not have something else running. It is too late to join the current one and besides there is a chance of being kicked off it the first day. I rather enjoyed the simplicity of having a £1000 over the course of the festival, similar to the royal ascot one, where you were able to pick and choose losers as you wish!
I think I must be the same Islander. **** it, I'm going to make a decision. I'm going to put the comps up for those who want them. I think that's final. Or shall I sleep on it. PS See if you can start that second sentence with a capital F.
