Just listened to Carl Fletchers post match comments on the Bradford result. As usual he was calm and controlled, seemingly taking everything in his stride much as he does when on the touchline-such a marked contrast to the Fletcher as a player, who lets just say gives his all.So is Fletcher just underplaying his worries or is he really sure of what he is doing?.Any thoughts anybody?

This is a hard one aka. Given our resources previously I'm not sure he would have gotten anywhere by adopting the Fergie hairdryer type approach with a bunch of kids. Now we have acquired one or two half decent players with experience the results have bucked up with 4 points out of 6 with them in the side. I am much more confident now than I was that we even have a chance of turning things around. Fletcher may well be confident himself therefore and to pick up a point away from home and having moved off the bottom at last his confidence may be well founded. It is hard to look at Fletcher and see him as a Manager rather than a player given he was playing not that long ago. The results under him have improved. That wasn't difficult given the results prior to his taking office but you have to give some credit if we are going to kick him when it isn't going well. I have never subscribed to the blame them when it is bad but credit somebody else when it is better school of thought.

All we can do is give it a bit more time and see how it goes. He may turn out to be the disaster that a number of people thought he was going to be but also could turn out to be a very successful manager in time. We are sort of stuck with him at the moment with little or no sign of movement in the Managerial stakes so lets hope it is confidence rather than complacency in the end. Our league status may depend on it.

Thanks for coming back on this one Sensible.I guess your post very much echos how I see it.My gut tells me the guy is confident and knows what kind of style of play he wants and the players he needs to achieve it to get success (for survival). As I said before to play regularly and manage is a tall order for any manager, let alone given what we have been through and our current league position. To me Fletcher appears to genuinely take things in his stride and enjoy the huge challenge ahead ,but as you say the stakes are huge,if this approach fails.Without being complacent there are definite signs of revival-so carry on Fletch.

Complacent! As a manager he should be telling us as much as possible. No mention of the doctor on board that was needed for the journey home to deal with the rash of nose bleeds and dizzyness due to our elevated position in the league! Watch out Luggy we are after you!

Only played one and a half games.......but it is already evident that Darren Purse is a major must for our defence..........the attack is reasonable...........the mid-field is definately lacking in power.......Walton isn't good enough......shame we can't bring him on only for penalties......as in grid-iron goalkickers, and then get him off again..........Fletcher isn't a mid-field asset actually either.............strengthen the mid-field............this would give our forewards more oppotunities to score...............Purse should be captain without a doubt.
