Long, very boring squad comparisons with our 1st and 2nd XI's to Sunderlands 1st and 2nd XI's. A player in bold indicates they are the better player IMO

    Gordon Krul

    Bardsley Simpson
    Brown Coloccini
    Turner Taylor
    Elmo Enrique

    Larsson Barton
    Cattermole Tiote
    Vaughan Cabaye
    Sessegnon Ben Arfa

    Gyan Ba
    Wickham Lovenkrands

I think we are about par with sunderlands first XI at the moment. But we could see a few top players leaving (Enrique, Barton) which would leave us weak, but then again, we could see a few top players come in.

    Mignolet Harper

    O’Shea Raylor
    Ferdinand Williamson
    Bramble Kadar
    Richardson Perch

    Melbranque Marveaux
    Meyler Gosling
    Gardner Guthrie
    Colback Gutierrez

    Campbell Best
    Dong Ji Ameobi

Our 2nd XI looks VERY weak, and with a few injuries to the first XI, we could be putting out a very poor team, even worse than sunderlands :emoticon-0101-sadsm. And if those injuries come during the ACN, we are screwed. Basically i think we need 1/2 signings in defence, midfield and attack before we should start sitting back and relaxing, but we are only linked with a left back and a striker, which does make me slightly concerned.

Apologies for the long article, its only my 2nd article so cut me some slack, enjoy :D

Bit harsh on the new lads. Kadar worse the Bramble. Cue dissent

Hmm well for starters i highley doubt we will be playing 442 next season so changing both teams to a formation that suits us would change this a lot. And i disagree with several of your ratings but i won't go in to that

Wouldnt describe our strongest XI as a 442, more 451/4411. Sunderland have bought a lot of players recently, good squad players.

We have good enough keepers, 3 good enough centre backs for our current aim of top 10 and Kadar coming through. Strong competition for cm and the lw. We could do with quality in attack and cover for full backs and rw but other than that I dont think we have too much to worry about. Remember, you can only submit a 25 man squad. <ok>

Wouldn't say Vaughan was better than Cabaye. More proven in this league, possibly, but I would never say better.

    Krul - Gordon
    Simpson - O'Shea
    Saylor - Brown
    Colo - Bramble
    Enrique - Bardsley
    Barton - Larsson
    Cabaye - Cattermole
    Tiote - Gardner
    Jonas - Sessegnon
    Ben Arfa - Gyan
    Ba - Wickham

Us playing 4-4-1-1 them playing 4-4-2 couldnt decide between Arfa and Gyan

This. Few more strikers and full back cover is most important. I don't even see RW as a vital place to cover, we have Ben Arfa, Jonas, Barton, Guthrie, Marveaux and Gosling that can all play out there. Ameobi has played out there before as well! :)

Edit: On topic as well, our squad is strong now and we have a bit of depth everywhere except up top.

    Vaughn in our first team???

Brown in the first team above O'Shea?

I'd have Marveaux above Malbranque personally, know little about him but I know enough to think he'll be a decent player.

Sunderland fans will rate their players higher we will rate ours higher that just the way it works. No way in hell would I swap our squad for theirs! :D

Lovenkrands will not be anywhere near out strongest eleven. I highly doubt we will play a 442. Sunderland lineup is completely wrong. Ba is on par with Gyan and Cabaye is far better than Vaughan. Other than that, good article :).

I'd rather stick with Simpson at RB over any of Sundelands right backs.

Also you've left young Ferguson out of the second XI, although he's a winger really he'd be a better full back than Perchinho. Our second XI midfield looks pretty good for back up.

If you think Vaughan is better than Cabaye then you have obviously never seen Cabaye play.
