Been reading a lot of comments that we are "just this years Southampton and will run out of steam soon". I did wonder how close we were, and this time last season, after 13 games, Southampton were 3rd on 26 points... And ended up finishing 7th. I would snap ones hand off for a 7th placed finish right about now
That's what I meant when I mentioned "who would have dreamed it" on the match thread - it's truly unbelievable!
If we are in their position (8th) this time next year, i'll be more than happy to be compared to them, would love it if we were a regular top half finisher.
Im still in dream land Were top of the Premier League after 13 games. Its not a 2 or 3 game fluke Check that out
To be the same as us you have to sell 5 first teamers this Summer, replace them all and then improve on league position - Just posted a longer post on your "slide down table" thread. Think the difference between us last year and you this year is we very much relied on our defence (despite still having capability to put 8 past Sunderland) whereas you are relying on goals. We were still in 3rd place in the middle of January, but that was mainly down to only conceding 16 goals in 22 games. I'll be suprised if you're still there come Jan/Feb time but I genuinely hope you are.
We've got a fairly hard December on paper so i don't think we can maintain a top 4 place before January. I'll go out on a limb and predict that we will be 6th or 7th come January. Leicester v Man Utd - It will be interesting this one, they aren't really scoring, may have players out, but as long as Vardy scores i dont care Swansea v Leicester - May be a new manager by then, if not, then it could be a team battling to keep Monks job. Leicester v Chelsea - They will haveto have started steamrolling teams by this stage to get back up the league. Everton v Leicester - I think we have more chance of beating ManU and Chelsea than Everton in their current form. Liverpool v Leicester - Will Klopp click by then? ("click Klopp, click Klopp" please log in to view this image ) probably, seeming how they dismantled a fairly poor Man City side the other night. Leicester v Man City - Will probably be at that stage of the season where they can't afford to lose any more to stay in contention for the league. I predicted us on 33 points by January and i'll stick by that, theres gotta be a win and 2 draws in there somewhere, but you never know, the unpredictability of the league this season is crazy!
We've improved defensively though to be fair. 1 goal conceded from open play in 4 off the top of my head.
True... Palace 1-0 win West Brom 3-2 win [One a header from a corner, the other a penalty] Watford 2-1 win [Their goal was a penalty] Newcastle 3-0 win
Simpson and Fuchs have made us a lot more solid defensively Ive always said Simpson is a better defender then Ritchie De Laet but De Laet offers more going forward. With the form of our attacking players we need a defender more then an extra man in the attack
Simpson has impressed me a lot - I've said before that I might not like him as a person but am willing to give him a chance until January when we can bring in a "proper" RB but now he has shown his worth.
