Just out of interest a comparison between Swansea and Bristol City head coach achievment.. Bradley's record with Swansea........Games: 11....Wins: 2....Draws: 2....Losses: 7....Points: 8...GF: 15...GA: 29 Johnson's record with Bristol City..Games: 11....Wins: 2....Draws: 1....Losses: 8....Points: 7....GF: 11...GA: 17 Result - Bradley the sack and Johnson secure with the bigger picture.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38442329
I thought that, saw the headline about Bradley getting sacked getting 8 points in 11 games, and thinking, I think we are worse than that-
I always thought Bradley would be fired from the day he was hired. Not a very likeable person and above all he was only hired because the American owners believe that they will eventually rule the footballing world. Well I'm glad they both failed. I hope the Swans can now resume normal service.
I noticed that the American owners have said they made a huge mistake by hiring Bradley and I praise their honesty in that statement. It's good for them to say they are not infallible and I wonder if that will ever be heard elsewhere?
Alan Pardew the next swans boss i reckon. LJ knows more than us regards his tenure. But the fans will dictate his fate. The clock is ticking.
Hardly a fair comparison as they are in very different leagues and with different exoectations. I always find it funny on here how every slates foreign owners for their 'hire & fire' mentality after a few poor results, yet when it's City everyone does just that! It was done for SC and is increasingly the call now for LJ. People say the board aren't progressive and forward thinking, I"d argue neither are a lot of our fickle fans, they expect instant success just because we coughed up more transfer fees than we ever have before.....
Wasn't that the reason why we spent more money than ever before? Regrettably the hire and fire mantra has become a modern thing and I can't totally agree with it but it is what it is, but Ferguson wouldn't have hung around as long as he did if he worked under today's conditions with overseas owners but it didn't turn out too bad did it? I want every City manager to be successful but it hasn't worked out that way and Lee is no exception other than he has previous with us as a player.
Mate it's a talking point and my main obective is to try and keep this forum chatting to each other, I like Lee Johnson personally but we are in **** street and I'm just spreading the points of view, I think alarm bells should be ringing, hey ho...
It's off to work we go and if you don't get up for the task at hand you risk being fired - nothing personal, just the cold hard facts of life and in football it usually comes sooner rather than later. Getting rid of a manger will usually stir up the pot and comes with the dangers of the unknown.
Failure is failure whether its the Premiership or the Isthmian League. City have fickle fans yes, but it was the club/owner who mentioned us reaching the top division within 5 years. Ever since the club just seems to be backtracking on signings, expectations and ambitions. We are on a dreadful run and if it continues the Board/Owner will have no choice but to act and sack the Manager. If they don't, then the fans will let them know what they need to do. Bottom line is that we've heard it all before and failure in BS3 is hardly headline news...
LJ has a bigger points cushion than Bradley. He (and we) are lucky that for now there are at least 3 teams who are worse than us. If comparing 2 managers from different divisions is considered fair, then so should the respective situations in the respective tables: Swansea are 2nd from bottom, in the relegation zone on 12 points, 2 points from safety and with a goal difference of -20 - 16 less than the last 'safe' team, Crystal Palace - in effect they are 3 points from safety as a -16 GD is a mountain to climb. Bristol City by comparison are 17th (8th from bottom), on 27 points - 7 points clear of the drop zone with a GD of 0, which is 7 more than 3rd from bottom Blackburn. Again, if comparing 2 situations from different divisions is fair then that means we are 15 points, 20 goals and 6 league places better off than Swansea. Bradley ran out of road and crashed. LJ still has a tiny bit of road left.
If we'd stuck with SC then we would have been relegated - I think we were actually bottom when he was sacked(?) which we are certainly not now - yet. Mind you, sticking with SC would have given us another promotion season to enjoy - SC has proved brilliant getting us out of L1 so he would have made himself the opportunity to have been a hero all over again!!
And perhaps another tin trophy in the cabinet? I must confess I did enjoy my unexpected trip to Wembley but I now have higher ambitions in mind, so let's get on with it please.
What about us finding form? It's just as easy as them finding form. But hey let's look on the pint as half empty.
